Pocono Fishing Report 06/23/2015

MACFLY

Too many streams too little time
I headed up to catch the tail end of what I expected to be a pretty good hatch. Arrived at the stream around 7:15. The stream is up from the weekend rains and the fish were pretty active as a result. A mix of ISOs, cahills, & sulphurs were coming off in good numbers. Fish were keyed in on emergers just below the surface. Had several refusals to an ISO para emerger before switching up to a bit bodied CDC emerger. This was the ticket as several fish came to hand. It was a great night to be on the stream as the fish were feeding with reckless abandon. I counted at least 20 active rising fish and sure I missed more. The entire run was lit up. Around 8:30 or so it appeared fish were keying in on cahills but the odd one would still take the ISO. I had a really nice fish miss the ISO as his wake pushed the fly away from his mouth. He didn't rise again. Surprised by the number of rainbows caught last night. Including a really pretty bow pictured below. These were fish stocked as fingerlings a few years ago with the adipose clipped. On a side note the Mosquitos were brutal. Could have fished until well into the night but had to get off the stream due to the massive blood loss:) more rain today and some cooling could lead to another trip up before end of the month. One can hope:) btw this was stream b next to spot oo across from location b. Put those all together in case you wanted directions.

Nice to see those rainbows growing and doing well. Did you get any wild browns? I caught a bunch a few years back during an amazing sulpher hatch. That's a nice spot that I don't get to often enough.

This time it was mostly rainbows Mike. Al got a few nice Browns though. I've a caught a bunch of wild Browns this year and they have been multiple year classes which is great to see. Was hoping for more rain last night so I could get one more trip in:)

Yes fishing is over for you this year. It did not rain there last night. All that colored stuff on the radar was just for decoration.
