Pan fish and carp near Glens Falls

Hey,
do any of the gurus on this board have suggestions for pan fish or carp opportunities near Glenns Falls, N.Y.? I have a small pack canoe I've built that I can launch most anywhere. I'm considering Glen Lake tonight at dusk. Would prefer somewhere less power polluted. Thanks for any help. Frogge.

Moreau Lake
Glen Lake
Paradise Lake (near GFCC)
Hudson River (left at blinking light on Broad St.)
Rush Pond (west side of 87 between exit 19 & 20)
Sunnyside Lake (off 9l)
Crandall Pond (downtown Glens Falls-rt. 9)

I'm quite sure all of the above have warm water species (panfish, bass, perch, catfish, pickerel & pike) but I'm not sure about carp. I would imagine the Hudson River would have a few.... I'm sure there are a few smaller bodies of water in addition to the above, but those are the ones that came to mind. You're in the land of cold water, why not lake trout, ll salmon, browns, rainbows, brookies, tiger trout, splake...? Just curious.

Thanks for the help. Cold water is mostly deep as far as I know around here. Schroon has warmed up, as well as the HUdson. I'm waiting for fall to go to the colder ponds. I don't like trying to fish deep. I still want to check out the Boreas, Bouquet, Saranac, and explore the Ausable further. The close warm water I can get to after work. Thanks for your suggestions, Frogge.

hey frogge i'm just south of you , about 30 miles south of albany, and mostly in the summer when i seem to slow down catching trout, i find that allot of pan fish are aggressive towards my trout flies and i have a blast catching them.. Vince

Used to be a favorite spot of mine for medium sized bass GBS. My dad and i left a pair of glasses and plenty of tackle in about 10' of water off the south-east shore once, let me know if you find it.

Hey,
GBS you rule. I've been to the Pack Forest many times since my wife loves to walk the dog there. Haven't ever fished there until last night. I did get a decent pickeral just as you predicted. I think the second pickeral has my streamer( I wasn't using a metal leader). Thanks for the suggestion.

GH, I'm a physician treating cancer and blood disorders. I have an office on Glen Street and attend at GFH. I'm on call virtually all week days and nights and thus have to stay within my beeper range of Glens Falls until weekends. I really love fly tying and fishing. Seems to allow me to get some distance from the pressure of practice. Thanks again for all the help getting me going in this sport. Frogge.
