Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

outdoor clothing that sucks

Was out memorial weekend and realized that Under Armour sucks. I bought into the marketing and it does not wick moisture. Rather it builds moisture. Its hot when your hot, its cold when its cold out. I should have just looked at the product and realize that nylon nad polyester does not wick moisture. Im back to natural fabrics. That goes for Simms "wicking" under shirts etc. Anyone else buy outdoor clothing that sucks?

Sorry to hear of your problem, sweating like a pig. :)
I have been wearing this Capilene®, by Patagonia, for at least 15 years and the stuff is all it says it is. This stuff was made for the mountaineering folks, not the "logo" wearing crew and this shit is the best when it comes to a lightweight base layer.

Sweating like a whore in church? I would check out some clothing from the cycling world, mountain biking in particular (roadies dress like weenies). Club Ride (CR) makes some good stuff, wicks really well, is light, and durable (has survivied a few of my big crashes without tearing). Its expensive, but so is the Simms, Patagonia, etc. shit that you already overpay for. Oh, and it has some nice pockets built in the back also.

I have been usine First Lite Merino Wool and it works really well also, but I will check out the other sites. I found nylon and polyester is not the best when it comes to moisture management. I do have to pair of lightweight capilene long johns and also found them not to be a problem.

For sale 3 pair of Under Armour boxers slightly used (and stretched out in the front). make offer.

Nylon and poly does work, however, there are different grades of material, and the 3-D shape of the individual fibers and the way they are weaved and layered makes the difference between something that works well and something that becomes your next oil rag.

I purchased some garments from Core 4 Element which is a merino wool nylon blend. Im also going to conduct some wicking and drying tests to see the difference. Additionally, I purchased some light weight pants from LL Bean to wear under my waders. They are not Simms or Patagonia so I don't know if I will catch as many fish in them.:)

The thing with wicking is you need airflow and low enough humidity to allow for evaporation. If its hot, humid, with no airflow, there is only so much wicking even the best garment is going to allow. That and start getting into shape, girlie man.

Its not like I sweating like the govenor of New Jersey. I just realized one day that the Under Armour actually did the opposite of what marketing said. I had never felt as hot or sweated as much as when i wore Under Armour. My wifes silk panties never left me feeling wet and clamey

I don't think they ever left her feeling wet either...

Ohhh! Ouch. Smack! Thank you sir may i have another.

I dont know what happened to get that response. I do nothing to know one here on this board and try to bring peace and harmony to NEFF and this is the end result. :cryin:

I think the answer is obvious. Wet wade in a bathing suit, and stop complaining. And stop wearing your wife's underwear, you fruitcake.

theres nothing like the feeling of a silk thong and just a pair of waders. I wear a shirt of course so i dont get burned.

Thanks for the disturbing vision. I just wonder how long it will take to remove it.

Another item that was not what is live up to be was Simms cold weather wader pants. Not the new cold weather pants that look like pants. These were sold a few years ago and lookes like sweat pants. They were junk as far as keeping you warm. I paid something like $90 for them and now use them to hang around the house in the winter.
