Orvis Sonic Weld Technology

Sounds like a sizing problem if you had the boot pull away from the gore tex. they aren't supposed to fit like spandex you know.

It was a constant problem with him until he had the operation to remove the sixth toe on each foot.

They get that on all waders dont they? Admit it, you are suffering from Simms envy. My wader is better than your wader

Hey, thanks to all for the input and sorry I originally posted in the wrong sub-forum. For me, the earlier pairs of Simms waders were great, but the latest pair I overpaid 4 years ago or so & they have leaked after a year. I figure I'll look around more this time and not automatically stay with Simms just for the name. Maybe I'll end up buying them, but the wide range of opinions here was really helpful. Anyway, long time fly angler, new forum member, great discussion!!!

By the way...

Let's look at another part of the Orvis 100% Satisfaction guarantee...

"For over 150 years, we have offered the strongest return policy in the business. We will refund your money on any purchase that isn't 100% satisfactory. Anytime, for any reason. It's that simple."

This doesn't include waders and rods are up to 25yrs. I don't understand how this works... How can you claim to 100% satisfactory guarantee or your money back on ANY PRODUCT FOR ANY REASON, AT ANYTIME but then have stipulations on your fly fishing products? Sounds to me like they are a bit sure you won't be satisifed with these products and will eventually ask for a refund. The solution... Don't buy your fly fishing gear from Orvis.

You've gotta understand... WB has the equivalent to a drift boat what Fred Flintstone has to a car. WB's feet are typically dangling in the water and doesn't have the comfort of placing his feet up and relaxing therefore, waders are a necessity for him.
Come to think of it DLUVER looks a lot like Fred or maybe Barney

So..if my slave labor, crappy made, chinese crap, crap ass, shitty waders.....that are comfortable, do not leak...(after one season in them)...start leaking in the next 25 years, they will refund my money? Is that what you are saying? Not such a bad deal..if not, it's Dan Bailey's for me next time....:crap:

This is cyber bullying and it is against the law. If I kill myself it will be the fault of you and DC. But then again, if you can live with the fact and sleep well at night knowing little Juan working for pennies a day, 7 days a week, looking at his little swollen fingers and thinking about those rich fisherman and the waders he is glueing together for them. If that does not bother you then nothing will.

What a surprise the simms gang comes out to preach the greatness of simms in a thread about orvis sonic weld waders. Listen i get it, you payed big bucks for those waders, I would force myself to like them as well for that kind of money.

I have a pair of cabelas seamless waders, that is what they call welded. I have had them for over a year now and I DO NOT take care of my waders and I fish A LOT. People who know me can testify to all. The waders are going strong. No leaks, no wear on the booties. I really like the welded waders, they breath great and hell no leaks yet. However i do believe i got a "good pair"

But let me be real blunt. ALL WADERS ARE PIECES OF SHIT. NO ONE MAKES A QUALITY WADER. BUY WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD.

No gang, just me and Tobias. If your attention span was longer than Howie Mandel's hair you would have seen how the whole thread developed. Now go back and try tie some glo bugs.

If Juan doesn't get to make my waders that's 2 less cents he is making a day. I'm practically feeding his whole family while Simms waders are feeding some crazy redneck unibomber who lives in a shed in bumf@ck Montana. Because of you Juan's cousin has to beg from the gringos because you won't buy his waders.

I agree JU, I have Cabalas also. I beat my waders up too. I walk through brush and climb over logs (all the things you should not do to waders.) I am very happy with them well worth the under $100 price I paid for them. My wading shoes are Simms 2 seasons on them now and they did not hold up as well as I thought they would. I do fish a lot and beat the hell out of them also. Comfortable but not a durable as I hoped they would be. I had a pair of Hogmen wading Shoes that lasted 5 years.

I own the Orvis Sonic Seam lightweight packable stocking foot waders and love them. They are tough, very light, and easily packable.

My question is, why do you people pay retail for anything? I don't pay retail for any of my fishing stuff. You gotta find deals.

Even discounted simms waders are pricey, too pricey in my opinion to make them a compelling argument. Now I do have several pairs of simms boots and have been happy with them but simms doesn't sky high the price of their boots. The reality is you can get two for the price of one simms from other decent brands. I've had cloudveils the last few years and they are going strong (bought heavy discounted on stp btw).

Plus who pays retail for anything anymore besides gas, groceries and utilities? From gear to clothes, etc? Well, I did, almost, for my last sage z-axis.

I just meant paying retail for fishin stuff. I have to pay full price for groceries and diesel. I don't have one of them fancy tax payer funded debit cards I see everyone using down here.

Not sure who pays retail but all things being equal I will still pay a lot less for my redington waders.

I just read an article that Simm's is updating their G4Z zip front waders in January 2013. What does this mean? The current G4Z's are going to start popping up at discounted prices. Right now MRFC has the Med-long and XL G4Z's on sale for $499, down from msrp of $699.

My Redington waders are zip front and let me tell you, it's good stuff.
