Too many streams too little time
2010 was a great year for me as it relates to flyfishing. I was able to fish a lot more than in previous years due to a reduced a travel schedule abroad. Time on the stream has been cathartic for me personally. I have always understood that flyfishing was an excellent way to reduce stress and actually provided an environment to ponder and solve some of life's more challenging issues. I am looking forward to 2011 in more ways than one. I figured I would throw out a couple of resolutions I am looking to achieve this year.
Fly Tying: 2011 is the year I will finally get into tying my own flies. While I have dabbled in the past I cant say I ever honestly tried to learn and this has been primarily due to the limited time I have had to to anything related to flyfishing. Last year I was really focused on just fishing. So this is the year I will absolutely do it.
Steelhead: Ok I have the outfit now I have to get up to the Salmon River for the first time. I used to pass the Salmon all the time when I was up in Fort Drum. Never flyfished for Steelhead up there though. So I have to get up there this coming year and form another addiction
Volunteering for TU: I used to do this a long time ago. Of course for the same reason I didnt get into flytying I didnt do much in the way of volunteering either. So my TU Chapter has a couple of interesting projects under way and I will absolutely get involved. Definitely want to give something back to the sport that has provided me with so much
Fish a new Stream out West: This is one I cant wait to do this year. I am dying to go flyfishing in Wyoming specifically the North Platte. Gotta get there this year.
Do some exploring in PA: Want to try and fish some of the lesser known wild streams in the state. There are plenty within an hour and 30 minutes from the house. Should be fun.
So folks I have a few more but these are some of my main objectives for the new year. I wish you all a Happy New Year filled with rising fish and tight lines.
