Where are the good spring creeks in PA/NY, not far from the Jersey border? I used to fish the Saucon but it got boring.

The Delaware is my favorite stream but on any given day there are 150 guides split up on the rivers. I used to like fishing the WB this time of year but Hale Eddy is almost impossible to put in or take out which means the access points are limited and a lot more people are fishing the already over crowded areas of the river.

I want big hungry browns!

Check out the Lehigh River in Pa. might have to deal with tubers this time of year but it is an up and coming River. Good river to float but wading is a nightmare.

Thanks, John, I'd like to wade fish though. The boat is in NY. That's a long trip!

Spring Creek, Fishing Creek, Big Spring Creek are your best bets right now. If you want to get really frustrated and see a tone of nice browns, Letort Creek also has good water now. The Lackawanna River just north of Scranton also has cold water from a couple of mine drainage's and has some nice wild browns of good size. I have fished all except Big Spring, which I would guess is the farthest for you anyway. There is also a spring creek called White Deer off 80 near Milton that is smaller but is a good stop too. One other that's closer is Tom's, I think the water is cold enough there now and it is close, but also small.

Perfect, This is what I was looking for and, I like being frustrated so that's even better! Thanks for this great info. I'm going to make it out within the next week. Been a while since I've fished.

Thanks!

Excellent book Trout Streams of Pennsylvania by Dwight Landis tells you all you need to know about Pa streams.

If the Lehigh River is too far, those are twice the distance. Geography not your strong suit? :fart:

Forget about the Lack this time of year, the flows are way too low and the temps are too high to be screwing with the natural brown trout population. If you want to fish the Lack, then fish for the holdover stocked rainbows above Simpson. I may be up there myself this weekend.
Toms although ok on temp is extremely low. I know I just fished it a week ago.
All the small creeks are very low unless you can get on them within a day of a good rain, as I fished Satan's Ass last weekend only a day after the big rains and it was almost too low to fish. However I did get double digit small browns on a pink Humpy.

I can't believe DC actually asked for everyone's fishing spots...:looser:

I think it was misinterpreted. The lehigh is not far from me but when You have to drive to Hancock from Union County to get the boat then at the end of the day drive back to hancock from the Lehigh then back home, that becomes a long day!

Apparently reading comprehension not Rusty spinners strong suit

The Delaware has become a ridiculous shit show of boats and guides .
It’s hard not to drive by the Deposit bridge and see a line of boats stacked
Up one after the other. The rivers mentioned are all good choices, but if you want to use your boat and not drive too far from Hancock and probably not see another boat on the river try fishing the Susquehanna from Bainbridge down for Smallmouth and Walleyes. I know you said Big Browns but the smallmouth on the Susquehanna are a nice alternative . The river has some nice fish , scenery and not swarmed with boats
and guides.

Any shuttles or are you on your own

None that I know of. Maybe one of the shuttle services that work the Delaware would do it . You could launch in Sydney or Bainbridge and take
Out in Nineveh or Windsor. There’s boat launches all along the river. The river is in my front yard in Afton. I have 2 drift boat trailers and will leave
One at the take out with a vehicle. Or just have my wife pick me up. The river sees almost no pressure and
Is pretty scenic. It’s loaded with crayfish. Streamer patterns and crayfish
Patterns work. Along with the smallmouth and walleyes there’s some musky I’ve been told. Caught some nice fish and no crowds. I’ve only seen 1 other drift boat in 4 years since we bought the farm. It doesn’t have any the big trout the Delaware has but it doesn’t have the ridiculous amount of pressure and boat traffic either. I’ve caught some
Smallmouth over 20” that fought like crazy. I wish I wasn’t so busy and could fish it more often.

DC stay out of Pa. there is nothing to see here. Stay in Jersey. Try the flatbrook or the Musky by Stanhope. The water is colder as it’s close to the lake outfall. Actually, on second thought, I have seen you cast. It looked like someone having an epileptic fit on steroids. You might be better off joining Hatchman on the Susquehanna where both of you can work on your skills and get good enough to fish for trout

lol! Keep that dinghy in the Poconos WBDlvr . Just be careful if you float tobyhanna or the Brodheads , the Poconos have become the “ Hood” in the last 30 years , I used to own a few houses there. Many a transplant from Newark and Harlem. You might have to put a few bricks in your new
Sling purse to defend yourself if they try to
“ dinghy Jack “ you. Certain areas of the Lackawanna in Scranton can be a little urban too.... lol !

I’ll take a day on the Susquehanna in solitude fighting some nice bronzebacks anyday over the West Branch when it’s swarmed with
Guides “ living the Dream “ or most places in northern PA. Central PA that’s a different story.

lol!!! I'm bringing the king of the monkeys with me. What's your favorite fishing hole again?

You probably should have PM'd that to me. Macfly is already on his way. You ought to hear his mating call.

You're right about the Delaware though. It's a shitshow and has been for the past 7 years or so. That's unfortunate.

If beating the crowds and getting frustrated is what you seek, theres always the Upper East.

Otherwise I'm in the same situation as you. I want to fish, but can't bring myself to burn a day to go and fight for a spot on the West. I may start trolling some PA streams too.

No! Move on, nothing to see here. It bad enough you brought Covid into this state now you want to try to molest our fish!
