I left the following items in a pull off off of rt 30 around downsville, NY along the East Branch of the Delaware River:

Scott G 856 fly rod (Scott G 6wt, 8.5' 2pc)
Brand & model removed by Pete fly reel (Black reel with green wf6f airflow line on it)
Native polarized sunglasses
The rod and reel were rigged with a muddler minnow.

Reward for return, also no questions asked. Thanks.

That sucks and I hope you get them back. Try all the local fly shops to see if anyone brought the items there. Also try Catskill Flies website and any others that also cover the upper D.

Check the Baxter House in Roscoe too... Matter of fact, check there first. I would go in and ask them to see the "Back Yard" collection.

Someone stores your property for you. Dosent charge you for it, and this is how you repay them?

something like this makes you sick and you keep replaying it over and over in your head. I hope somehow you get it back.

Wow.

A Scott rod and aremoved-Pete reel.

That sucks.

I doubt anyone will return it to you, dude.

Sorry to hear of your loss.

Yea I left it at a pull off on rt 30 saturday morning. I realized it was gone about 15 minutes later, when I drove back it was gone. There were no cars or fishermen there when I fished or when I came back. Expensive mistake, someone got a hell of a rig.

I think you're probably better off checking in with Catskill Flies, WB Angler, etc. on a daily basis because if someone here found it, you would have heard already, since fishing with ill gotten goods is just bad juju. About 100x worse than bringing a banana into the boat.

I be youre losing sleep... I did the same thing, but thankfully someone returned it to me...Ill paruse the "back yard" collections on the local WB sport shops for you, too...If someone here foud it, like TZ said, you would have already heard back...Or they would have posted lost gear...If a meat hunter found it, check craigslist or ebay...I wish you the best of luck my man...

First thing I do now is put the rod back in the bazooka...

Thanks for everyone's help. I may be back in the area again this comming weekend and I will check all of the fly shops again.

I was just checking the stream conditions on catskill flies website, they have it posted that a customer notified them of a scott rod they found, it states that if you can name the reel that was on the rod they will forward you to the person who found it. I would recommend checking in on this.

I just saw the same thing - bet this is the rod and reel!

I called catskill flies and it looks like it is my rod and reel. Thanks for everyone's help. The same day I lost my rod and reel, I actually went to catskill flies and bought a ross cla 2 to replace my lost reel (I had another 6 weight rod with me). They are a good shop and I'll continue to stop there when I fish in the area.

This thread has the makings of one of those feel good Hallmark movies. I need a tissue.....

FYI:
Since the fly shop is using the reel to identify the owner, and anyone can read our open forums, I just edited your original post, and a couple of posts where it was quoted, to remove the brand/model of the reel.

Hopefully, you'll be the only one trying to "claim" the rod.
If it turns out that this was not your rod, we can put it back.

I just want you to know that I'm the first one to mention that it was somewhere in Roscoe. I was about 3 blocks off.

But every GOOD movie has some conflict.

I say that when he picks his rod and reel up at Catskill Flies, that he demand to return the other reel he bought. He should accuse them of stealing his original rod and reel just so they could sell him a new one... THAT has some potential to create a MEMORABLE scene.

WOW

I think my faith in man has went for neg 5000 to neg 4999 --- congratulations on the return of your rod -- THIS IS TRUELY A GREAT ENDING TO A SAD STORY.

I hope if this ever happens again to anyone on this site that the same thing happens and their gear is returned

God Bless the person who turned the rod in -- May he be rewarded 10 fold for his GREAT DEED

Peace
Dan
