looking for a new 4wt

flymantis73

I am haunted by waters
narrowed down to these rods:
Redington Classic Trout
Redington Voyant
Orvis Access
Okuma Guide
any one own or cast these models?
i have a nice Redington Rise Reel to pair it up with, i'm really leaning to one of their rods.
there is also the fiber glass butter stick.

I have an Orvis 6 1/2 foot 4 weight I'll sell you for a $100.00! I won it at a TU event and I already have too many 4 weights. Rod apppears brand new.

I have to check the model name when I get home tonight. It's one of the older out of production models (un-sanded blank) that are in vogue now due to the softer action. It's the same blank as high end but without the bling-bling reel seat. This rod has a black reel seat with rosewood spacer. It's real nice!

I own an Access 5wt and have fished it for two years. Casts great. I always wanted a 4wt and I was looking at some refurbished Orvis Helios 2 rods in the Manchester outlet store during a ski trip this winter. Last month I called around to the outlets and was able to find a refurbished H2, 8'6" 4wt in the Conway NH shop. $395. You don't get the 25 year guarantee, but it still carries the 100% satisfaction guarantee, so if you get tired of it you can get your $395 back or use it towards another rod. Have used it three times now and it casts a dry beautifully. Very accurate. I think it only weighs 2 1/8 ozs. You can get the Access for about the same price and it comes with the 25 year guarantee, but I am pretty careful with my rods and figured I would take a chance on the refurb. So far I have no regrets.

If it's a superfine I'll buy it if he doesn't want it.

I just rememered the model name; it's Rocky Mountain. As I recall Orvis advertised these as being the same blank as the Superfine. They just downgraded the finish to bring the price down.

I own a 10ft 4wt access. It's been a great rod. Bought it for nymphing but have been using it for dries as well. Casts great and has a pleasing price as well. I bought the package with the reel and the line. The line they pair with this rod seems very well matched. I tried it with a Wulff triangle taper and wasn't nearly as happy with it. My .02.

My best friend just got a 10' 4wt access and it's a hell of a for the price. I have a 4wt Helios 2 and wouldn't trade it for the world. Just my .02

I have a really nice Allen XA 10ft 4 weight fly rod. Fished it twice. If you are interested I would sell it for 200 bucks.

Redington classic trout 4wt for the win.
still keeping an eye on the butter stick, it seems to be catching anglers eyes, and fish.
