Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

Ken Lockwood Gorge

What is going on with KLG ?? Its hard to get a truthful answer on stocking. I have heard they will be dumping from the bridge, another person said they are only
stocking lower parking lot. All I know is between the state not taking care of the road, locals posting no parking in and down the river, limited stocking they have all
recked the finest trout river in the state. It used to be a nice gathering place for good people to congregate and enjoy the out doors. Someone said to me they hope the locals
see the type of people that they do not want using the Gorge, for other reasons, use your imagination. What a freaking mess they have all created.
Does anyone know it the state has any interest in fixing the gorge or are they just giving it up?

The road will not be fixed, thank goodness. every time it floods, tons of gravel get dumped into the river from that road. I find lots of parking in High Bridge and along river road. You will need to walk to get to the old spots deep in the gorge. Best part is most people are lazy and start disappearing past the meat hole going down stream. I don't see a mess, I see a great opportunity for the trout in the gorge to be given a little break from constant bombardment. Let the Gorge return to a natural state and not have a gravel road next to it. You can also walk down the Columbia trail and slide down the hill...

Well, I am 76 and had four stents over the last 3 years, not going to drive 2 hours and 45 minutes round trip to get their and then walk a half hour each directionto find my spots with few other people on the rout if you get into a bad situation. Was nice to see other guys in the lots and talk fly fishing and exchange info, the comrodary was great,, now i see very few of the regulars. I guess that is my problem but have run into others that say they done go there anymore for these reasons.

I go into the gorge at the bottom because I drive up frm S Jersey. You should try that area instead, the walk is pretty easy and access quite a bit of the stream. Most of the cars parked there are not people fishing since the 2020. I typically get there 5:30 or so May and June and fish for 3 hours weeknights. I think this would be a good option for you, and there are always a couple of people in the lot that were fishing and generally friendly and talkative in the evening. There are lots of brown trout in that stretch these days. Hope this helps.
