Got Out Monday

Ruddyduck

Just finished a River Runs Through it!
We had a little bit of warming here in Pa. After the temps rose begining Friday and staying warmer thru the weekend and this past Monday 2/3 the weather was beautiful with temps reaching the upper 40's.
I fished the Broadhead just drown from the Anolomink RR bridge. Water was up just a tad but running clear. I fished fro 1-3:30 concentrating on a few of the deeper pools and runs. I was rewarded by a nice 18" rainbow on a little brook trout of Slaymaker design in a 8. I also caught a 12"brown in another run that took a beadhead pheasanttail that was tied on as a dropper above a dark olive woolly bugger. Only two fish but felt great to be out fishing.

Two nice fish between 1 and 3:30... That doesn't sound bad at all. I haven't been out in probably 2 months. That's a record for me.

I just can't wait to fish the Beaverkill in the springtime.

I booked a trip out to Montana for September. That should be be great! It's a 5 day guided trip. I'll be sailing with my father and a few of my uncles.

Frequent flyer miles RULE!!!! The airplane ride cost me a total of $35.00... That's right, Thirty Five bux... That's for transaction fees. The guide service is just under 1000.00... Not too shabby!

Ruddyduck glad to here you got out and had success.I have been doing the spring creek thing in the lehigh valley most of the winter.

Dennis Sept? Where in montana, because thats when I will probably be going this year!

Joe,

I leave on the 10th of September and return on the 16th. I'll be fishing the Clarkfork, Bitterroot, and Blackfoot. Should be a great time.

Dennis my trip is not confirmed yet, but it looks like I will be out there in Montana the last week of september.Hopefully Andre as well.

Dennis the Clark Fork and the Missouri rivers are considered by some Drf Fly Enthusiasts as 2 of the best dry flyfishing in the world. And I am one of them!

You are in for an incredible time.Thats all I can say.I cant describe in words or pictures what you will experience, especially at that time of the year.

The Bitteroot and the Blackfoot are not to shabby either.

You will be hooked for life!!!!!!!
:D :D :D :D :D :D

Dennis, I fished both the Clark Fork (upper and lower streches) as well as the Bitteroot. Clark Fork Bows are the hottest I've ever hooked. I've heard the fishing has only gotten better on the river. The Bitteroot is a great river as well. I don't know if you will be floating and guided but... Some of the best fishing on the Bitteroot is up the spring fed sloughs. Big fish, skinny water and demanding fishing. More later

Wow! I'm glad to hear the great reports about the 3 rivers I mentioned! If I'm not back by September 17th, you'll know where to find me. I'll be with your buddy, Joe, the guy who went out there and never returned!!!

Now I've gotta get my new rod, but I've gotta see what the work force offers me. The trip is booked, the rod will have to wait until after April. I hate running up the credit card, then again, it's for an excellent cause! :)
