Early Black stones, Out real early.

Johnny Utah

You're no daisy
While fishing this past week, and today, I have been seeing plenty of early black stones hatching. Also had some caddis hatching as well.

Nice vid, Johnny. Thx. Take that long in the editing booth, or was it the penalty box?

I was out electro fishing with the Division between the Holidays and I was surprised at how many little stones were crawling all over our nets as we scooped up the brookies. Mild winters will do that.

So will this mild winter, assuming it doesnt take a turn for the worst, mean their will be better hatches this spring?

I actually think that early hatches usually lead to worse hatching activity in terms of how long the hatches hang on strong throughout the spring. Nothing worse than seeing sulphers and a few lonesome drakes coming down the river first week and a half into may
