caddis who??????

That's a winter caddis - dolophilodes distinctus. They hatch twice a year and the females that hatch in the winter have no wings. The second brood of the year, which occurs in the summer months, many of the females will have wings but not all.

I'm glad to see Johnny Utah is back and educating us with his intimate knowledge caddis flies. Johnny do you tie a William caddis to fish for wild trout, oh I'm sorry you probably call him BIll.......Make a tutorial of it.....and flatten your barbs....

Thank you Matt. I have seen these fellows for years on my favorite freestoner. A good sign of clean water....and well so are the wild brook trout.
