Black caddis on the Bighorn

My first trip back to Montana in 7 years, and it didn't disappoint. This time I fished the Bighorn and the Gallatin, my first on either river. We floated the Bighorn three days, the first two below the Yellowtail Dam on the upper 3 miles and on day three, we floated the stretch from the lower 3 down to the 12 mile mark (if memory serves correctly). Black caddis were on all three days with the first two days being epic hatches and the little buggers crawling up your clothes and all over your face. They don't taste great, but enough local IPA and they wash down OK in the end.:beer1:

The ride out to the Bighorn from Bozeman in a perfect fishing vehicle, this one a GMC extended cab towing a raft and all our gear, complete with caddis smeared, broken windshield.

The view from our cabin overlooking the upper 3 miles of the Bighorn's tailwater. And my first PBR of the morning while enjoying the view and getting ready to eat breakfast and head out on the water.

The hatch was pretty simple as were the flies we needed for this trip - black caddis and mostly dries up top:

Awesome!! The Horn is amazing. Hatches that never seem to stop and the fish just keep on rising! Glad you're having a good trip.
