Best saltwater reels

I read about the silver king and it seems like a great reel although a bit expensive. One thing that stood out in the review of the reel is the spey ring which closes the gap between the spool and frame. With any reel you buy you will probably want to check the tolerance between the gap and the spool in the event that you want to use running line and heads. I had a Lampson Konic that would eat up running line because of its tolerance between the gap and spool.

One other consideration with a reel is to not get one too light if you plan to ever use it with a switch or spey rod.

I am a staunch Billy Pate Bonefish AR afficionado I own three , got them for boat fishing one reel/teeny 350 for clousers and half and halfs, one reel/floater for gurglers and poppers, and one reel/intermediate line for surf Jetty work..although the Teeny 350 or Depthfinder 400 and the Intermediate lines are my go to lines. I also use these reels for Steelhead/Salmon /Lake run brown fishing as well, they are not sealed but as long as you rinse your reel after everyday under the spigot with freshwater and then re grease and clean them at the end of every year you should be good to go, BTW my three reels have a few scratches or marks but they work flawlessly. Billy Pate AR hands down.. I have yet to use a reel that didnt freeze up in winter while steelheading...just keep the reel out of the water you should be fine

I love my Galvan Torque t-10's and T-12's...But the CCF and NV are SOLID competitors in the saltwater scene as well. I haven't used my Pate in saltwater, but the ANTI Reverse is a beautiful thing and it makes early season chrome easier on the knuckles. I've been told Bonefish mimic that of the fall steel...
