Are Double bunny minnows supposed to be super heavy

tied a double bunny strip minnow on a 1/0 hook and after trying it tonight, it is really heavy on my 8 weight rod..are these normally really heavy flies or did i just make it too big...guess its all the water soaked up by the rabbit hair....whats a good size to tie for smallies?

How long is it? After bunny strips get wet they get verrrry heavy. Try llama hair on really big flies, it sheds water very well.

i would guess its about 3" long...going to cut it shorter to see how that helps

I make very large streamers, anywhere from double to triple articulated and have made an articulated double bunny, so- a double double bunny and it was near 7 or 8" long. with barbell eyes.

it caught a lot of fish with its yellow and white color scheme. it was a medicine ball though. that artificial hair stuff is okay, but the action is NOT the same.

what size rod set up where you using to cast that thing and what did you catch on it..i've made a couple more but decided to go with deer hair for belly instead to make it light...also cut my initial one shorter but didnt tet....i'm using a 7/8 weight rod with wha i think is 8 weight line

you can throw everything just fine with that, even articulated, full 8" double double bunnies.

I currently throw my articulated flies on a 9' 5/6 weight, with 5 weight line. It is more than manageable. With that said, I am buying a 10' 7 or 8 weight as my dedicated jumbo streamer/ bass/pike rod. Obviously, this will aid in me throwing articulated and double articulated flies.

I've caught trout, small mouth, large mouth, and I've hooked up on a striped bass near the delaware, but didn't land it. I have some massive sex dungeons too
