A Trib to the Raritan

Got out today for a but. Fished a small trib of the Raritan. I am not saying if it was in the North Branch or South Branch watershed. I never thought this stream had trout, the water is warm in the summer and the low flows bring it down to a trickle. A month ago I was walking the dogs and I saw some fish move. Looked a lot closer and saw a nice sized brown. I have been meaning to get back there, and did today. I have never seen anybody else fishing here or even foot prints down by the water. Both fish came on a streamer fished 18 inches behind a split shot. Thanks to everybody here who has given me great pointers on streamer fishing I was finally able to put it together. The one hooked jawed fish was fat and leaked milt as soon I as I picked him up. The stream was up due to the rain but both of these fish are true monsters for the size of the stream and the colors were vibrant. I have caught 8 inch browns in the trib that this trib flows into so this was a real treat. Enjoy the pictures. I did not squeeze the fish hard even though it may look like I did in one picture. brown 4.jpgbrown3.jpgbrown1.jpgbrown2.jpg

That's a helluva grip you've got there!

Sometimes it only means they moved up to spawn and there are no trout during summer months, but that is not always the case. Sounds like a first order trib (S1) that flows out of some dammed (not damned although that may also fit) impoundment...

I think you're right rusty....that last fish pic gives away what stream it was.
