    Yankees magazine, Juliy 2014

Attention Yankee fans. The July 14 issue of Yankee magazine has a nice series of articles about Babe Ruth. 100 years since he debuted. One article discusses how the Babe used to fish the Big Flatbrook and Lake Oquitunk, and that he frequented Gyp's tavern back in the day. It says Gyp's...

    Inflatables

Can we talk pontoon boats for a minute? Like em or hate em? I floated the WB once on a pontoon and liked it. I am considering purchasing one as I can get a good deal now on a 9 footer. The only con that I can see is that you have to remain seated, or anchor where you can jump off. It...

    At what age?

Gentlemen, What's a good age to start a kid fly fishing. Please don't tell me when they can walk. Seriously, it was a huge task when I was 18 to try and adapt to it. Can a kid go from a Zebco to the fly, or should they learn to use a spinning reel first? Appreciate your thoughts.

    How much hackle?

I could use a little help here. I've been attempting to tie some Catskill style drys and I'm having trouble with the hackle. My flies never seem to look like there is enough on there. I've been going with about 8 wraps. Is this enough? Do I need to use two hackles to get a fuller wing? I...

Cortland 555 line w ghost tip

Has anyone fished the 555 line with the "ghost tip" ? It sounds interesting but I am wondering if I will still be able to use my line tip to detect strikes. I rarely use a strike indicator. How invisible is this tip? I have not seen the line in person. Thanks.

    Tying in Biots

I'm sort of new to tying and need some advise. How do I tie goose biots in a V shape when I'm tying a Prince Nymph? Should I tie them in one at a time or hold them together and wrap them together. I've tried a thread bump for the tails and that helped a bit. What about the wings though...

Hi folks. I'm trying to save a trip to the shop later today since it'll probably be snowing. Does anybody have a scan of a hackle gauge (to scale) they can post so I can print one out for use.
