    something new

Just had this done on Saturday from the stump of an oak tree I had to take down as it was pretty much dead, and wanted to do something with the stump, which I left about 6' tall.

    real cdc

I always get my cdc from the ducks that I shoot. It is way better than that store bought stuff. Not too many colors, but I don't think it matters. This stuff is very hard to sink, you almost need to get slime on it to not be able to get the water out by just casting. The left is from a hen...

    late October on Brodhead

I fished the last 3 weekends on the Brodhead at the Evergreen section, which is not stocked. While there aren't near as many fish as the stocked sections, there are some nice fish in it. I have never caught anything but browns there. I got the triple skunk! Really heavy leaf action over that...

an interesting way to tie a pheasant tail

I saw this video on youtube and thought how cool is this? Two materials to tie one of the stalwart flies of all time, Unfortunately, the video ends before he shows you what to do with the tag end of the wire, but I like the simplicty and resourcefulness of the way this guy tied it.

    Black Ghosts Matter

You all know this. I don't care if you are a bunch of floating fly folk. The Black Ghosts Matter Movement is around for a good reason. You can't forget the peacock on top though.

    The other East Branch

Went to Margaretville on Thursday afternoon and met a friend that lives there and fishes the upper East Branch for the most part. We usually meet at Esopus Creek but that was slow and the water cold. Anyway wei fished until dark and we each caught a couple of nice rainbows, me on a Dark Quill...

    sulfurs on brodhead creek

Sulfurs were out last night in good numbers starting around 5. I was on the Stroud parks section. They started around 5 and were steady in great numbers, the wind was blowing hard at times. And the fish were taking the duns, which they seem to rarely do when I'm around.

from the may 1936 edition of the pennsylvania angler

Vol. 5 No. 5 ''ANGLER' MAY, 1936 E D I T O R I A L FISH FOR SPORT—NOT FOR MEAT It has been truthfully stated time and again by those men who have de- voted a great deal of time to the study of conservation matters and sportsmanship, as it applies to our fishing and hunting today, that the whole...

I kept a fish last Saturday, and ate it Sunday night. Haven't been to the dark side in like 25 years. It was good.

    another fishing report

Fished Saturday near Phoenicia starting around 4. Water temps in Esopus not bad at 66, the portal was only putting out a little water, but the T-storms dumped plenty. The stream was turbid from the rain and rising, fishing was decent for a couple of hours but then the water got higher and it...

    fishing report-spring creek pa

Stopped there on my way home from Michigan. Had never fished there before. Caught one brown 16"s on a black ant, lost a couple on a small olive nymph. If you never fished there you want to put it on your list.

    Esopus Creek

Spent Saturday fishing there, this is where I started fly fishing, and I like to get back once in a while. I don't have any big fish to report, but the rainbows are on the upswing again. I caught several small ones in the 6" range, and a couple around 10-11, along with a couple of browns.

I need a new fly line

I fish an 8-1/2' St Croix mostly having kind of retired the 7-1/2 HMG Fenwick last summer(really). I use a 5 weight for everything, and have a sink tip on an extra spool, so I need a floating line. I have used both DT's and WF's. Rio seems the hot line these days. Glad to hear opinions. This is...

    beaverkill and w branch

Drove up to the Hancock area on Sunday afternoon for a couple days of fishing. Sunday night the east and west branch were still a little high, so went to the beaverkill. Water was 62, a friend and I pretty much had the place to ourselves, Caught one nice brown on a sulphur wet fly just before...

    East Branch Delaware

Was there last Saturday, my first time on this river. Fishing was very tough, only caught one brown late in the day, my partner caught nothing. It was a great time, but was surprised not to see much happening. Guess I just was there on the wrong day.

need a 6 wt line for brackish water fishing

I'm going to start fly fishing the backwater marshes along Delaware Bay near my duck camp come warm weather this year instead of using the spinning rig. I'm mostly catching striped bass between 12-24's, and won't be casting far, probably 30-40'. Any ideas are welcome. The water is not real salty...

    Pine Creek

Took a trip to Pine Creek week before last and fished Monday night through Wednesday morning. Great trip, lots of nice fish. BWO's were the ticket. 14's or 16's were best, but when I ran out of those they took 12's too. I do little dry fly fishing, and this place is made for it. Mornings were...
