    RIP Levon Helm

I'm sure many members of this forum are as saddened by the loss of Levon Helm as I am. This world has lost a true musical legend and pioneer, and all around great person as well, not to mention a long time catskill resident. I had the privilege of attending Levon's 70th Birthday celebration at...

    Central PA 3/18- 3/20

AK you know cryptic subtleties are always more fun. Fish are looking up, Grannoms blanket these streams too. The time is upon us.

    Central PA 3/18- 3/20

I had a few personal days that I would have lost had I not used them before the upcoming fiscal year end, so naturally I went back to my former stomping grounds for a few days. I went to a few of my favorite spots during my college years, most notably Penns Creek (all time favorite), Big...

    Tennessee/ Western NC

haha damn AK, I was hoping the 'tapping into expertise' phrase was enough to overlook the "dude" (addressing a group of characters of course). As usual, I'm confident that your advice will prove to be very helpful. I'm leaning towards the South Holston right now

    Tennessee/ Western NC

Hey guys, I'm gonna be in Asheville, NC at the end of February, and I'm planning on scheduling some time on the water in the area. I'll be wading on my own day one, but the second day I'm planning on doing a float trip. The catch is, I'll be with the girlfriend who is insistent on joining [and...

    Big Hole River, Montana

It's crazy to think that the Big Hole, a massive river to begin with, is one of three rivers that meet in Twin Bridges to form the Jefferson River.

    Big Hole River, Montana

In the weeks leading up to my brief Montana vacation, I was sure to check the water temperatures and flows on the Big Hole River several times a day like a mad man. I would sit at my desk and daydream, yearning at the thought of immersing myself in the back country of the land adequately titled...

    Recent Trip To Penns Creek

Penns has gotten the better of me more times than I care to admit. If you hit it right however, man it can be rewarding. It is easily my favorite place to fish in the east. A quote that I heard an old friend say couldn't be more true... "Penns giveth, and Penns taketh away"

    Pine Creek info?

One of the most beautiful areas in the state easily. As previously stated, slate run tackle shop is the place to call. I'm told Pine warms up pretty quickly in the summer, but that doesn't look to be an issue this year. While Slate and Cedar runs are true class A WTS', Pine is pretty well...

very nice AK, looking good as always. Water isn't as high as I would have expected, especially seeing other streams during the drive over (susquehana in Lbg was raging). As for me, soon enough I'll get back there, soon enough. did you make it to spring creek?

    State College, PA

That is also a reason why I love fishing there so much. Unfortunately no fishing for me this weekend. I tried to make it work, but just not in the cards, however... I have 4 vacation days that expire by june if i don't use them. An early May trip to central PA is in the books. Penns, Spring...

I've only seen a bear there once actually in probably 100+ times fishing the creek. I was rigging up at 4th gap when I saw him wandering up from the creek about 50 yards away. He obviously saw/heard me, but never changed his path in the slightest bit, and vanished into the woods above

    State College, PA

yes definitely. I traditionally start at the 4th gap cabin and work my way down stream and then back up again. great water and deep pools at every bend

AK I'm heading to my alma mater this weekend too Gonna try to hit that magical little wilderness stream Sat morning that can be found by traversing the dirt road for 6 miles off of the Mile Run exit on I-80. Always enjoy fishing that place in high water.
