Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!
I would return the waders and get a pair of breathables with some extra money. i have the least expensive level simms waders and got chased down by a goose in the spring slid across rocks and i have zero leaks till this day a whole season later. i would never go back to neoprene waders again...
just want to say i took up fly fishing because it was very easy to catch fresh stocked trout on worms and powerbait. my first trip during this fall stocking was to a hot hole with bait and that was effective on a few large one's. but this year, i have caught more large stocked trout fly fishing...
Jeff is right if they're swarming but i haven't seen it like that in a couple of years. in the spring they used to hang by the dock in schools like he said but i haven't seen that the past 2 years. maybe i'm busy stream fishing in april?
great reply thanks. so are most of us in agreement that these things aren't really feeding much, they may bite out of agression until the spawn is over?
why not talk about bait fishing at RV in the winter when that's the only thing that works? even though it's a fly board here, it's also NJ trout fishing board.
In answer to the original question. Trout are moving up in the coves as we speak. walk over the dam and fish the far side of the...
I've been trying to get information on why fall stocked trout immediately seem to go into a false spawn. i caught a few browns in the wee hours of the morning yesterday but after the sun came up all we could see were the stockies pairing up and bumping the females like it's spawning time. since...
I agree as well. when i moved to flyfishing it was a huge promotion in my mind and also a way better challenge. besides the trout have a better chance to escape on the fly rod as well. even with super light spinning gear and 4 lb test there is little chance to lose many trout because the line is...
yes the guys held up the stringer and showed the powerbait. he has no reason to make up some story about the gorge like that. even if it isn't true the topic will come up in the future. i've seen bait cans about in conservation areas before.
I just got a call from one of my friends who said that people were fishing the gorge this past week or weekend with powerbait and not only that they had a stringer of 15 trout between the two of them not one over 15". Apparently they were proud of their catch showing everyone that passed by...
I will again apologize and say since i'm not as good as most of you yet i have no need to carry a scorecard. it's pretty easy to keep track of my catch most of the time. I was also kidding when i said i catch fish everytime and I do thoroughly enjoy the chase almost as much as the reward when i...
i have zero problem throwing them back but am very sad when they get off.
i think it's extremely responsible to conserve for the future and love TU and other organizations and/or clubs that are like minded.
I have no beef with anyone here. what started as a little joking turned into something...
