Unless you're set on fishing North Beach or the tip, there are a couple of places just south of the hook that you can fish before sun-up. Just as or more productive too. I mostly fish the inside of SH at night during the summer.

If you want to catch a striper then go to SH. Only a couple of weeks left at most for any decent fish. You just need to check the winds before you go. East winds can really put a damper on your day this time of year. Fish are there now and in the surf out to 600ft. A friend caught 8 this...

Bri, I was out but not off the hook. Albie action of Monmouth Beach. I got 3 albies and a bonito. Over 20 caught between the group and we left them biting when the stinkpots started to drive all over us.

Just got some pics of the new Freedom Hawk kayak. This thing opens up a whole lot of territory for fly fishing. I'm thinking still water, bay bay and even drifting some open stretches or river. What do you guys think? No idea on the price. Freedom Hawk 12

Was out of the Shrewsbury Rocks last week with few friends We were looking for some albie action but they didn't show up. We did run into some big 12-17lb blues. A friend took the video of me hooking into a 15lb fish. It destroyed by crease fly:)

Get there now. I yakked with a bunch of guys 0-3 miles off shore at Monmouth Beach and we must have caught 20-25 (fly and spin) amongst the group. Albies were everywhere until 11am. Also had reports of them in the surf along with some nice bass. Things will be taking off real soon...

Yaks and fly fishing are a good combo. Is yours a sit-on-top? Navesink and Shrewbury are good spots at night and ocean side during the fall (if you have all your safety gear). Also IBSP is a great place to fish from a yak if you want to travel there.

I yakked between the two yesterday and caught 9 fish with two keeper sized on wildeyes. I marked a ton of bait and fish. Fish are also being caught on clam from the surf. Nows the time to hit it!
