Often I've found that the exact shade of color doesn't really matter with darker or lighter insects in muted colors (dark gray vs. dark brown, vs. dark olive). An Adams (in the right size) will take fish as well for a BWO hatch or Blue qiulls which are dark flies. The same for lighter flies...
