Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

Montana trip low down.

Rusty, I was not a plant from the Fly Shop. I was there the same week as Dennis. I did not meet him. I left before the BBQ. After sending a nice thank you note to the host, it disturbed me much when I read Dennis' trip report that I notified the shop owner. I'm a 64 year old man that just wanted to let members of this forum know my experience with this fly shop, in response to what I was reading on this forum. That's it.

I did compose my original posting on a Word Document and then copied, since I wanted to chose my words carefully. This is not my sort of thing. But with the repond I got, that didn't help.

This will be my last posting.

Fair enough, Flyrunner. Glad you enjoyed your trip.

My life dream was to fly fish out West, and after taking care of my sister for three years who didn’t get the liver transplant she needed, and my own heart operation last year, I decided this was going to be the year to come to Twin Bridges.

Ethel.... ETHEL !!!!!! GIT ME MY VIOLIN

NNaaaaa... NNNaaaaaa.... NNNNNNAAAAAaaaaaaaaaa....

I beleve there was a problem with Seth's last post loading.

So I just clearified it for everyone.

My life dream was to fly fish out West, and after taking care of my sister and her peg leg for three years who didn’t get the liver transplant she needed untill drank herself to death anyway, and my own heart operation last year with that baboon, I decided this was going to be the year to come to Twin Bridges and really get screwed. Even with the slow fishing I had great time with my sister who was still dead and great experiences with my guides (they liked her too). Just being out on the water, enjoying the scenery, was good enough for me to get away from that coke habbit.

My host was great too from what I was told by them as they type this for me. He/She treated me well during my stay and showed great interest and enthusiasm and once mooned me just for the fu ck of it, and gave me the time to happily answer all by questions why I was a HoMo. I wasn’t treated as just another homo customer. We joked around about homo's and aids and he always greeted me by my first name YO QUEERIO, as I was just one of many people floating around in life who just happened by the shop each day. On the last day of fishing and during the last hour, I caught a 22’ brown trout on a real <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com
><st1:City onload=
</st1:City>san juan</ST1:p worm at the end of my bobber. I came back to the Shop with a big smile on my face telling the host what I had done to the guide at the boat ramp. I forgot to ask the guide to pull up his fly, put was ready to do it once more at the shop for the owner's benefit. When I was ready to purchase it, the owner said,” Do it up on me once”. It’s the little things like that, that makes you feel you pricked the right shop to fish. Based on my experience with this fly shop, if I get the opportunity again to come back out West, I’ll service them all once again.

<O:p</O:p
It was I who alerter the Shop Owner of your trip report on this forum. It bothered me greatly when I read it, having just emailed a nice thank you note to my host the day before, stating how great a time I had during my stay and what a load of great fella's they were. Both guides who were assigned to me were very personable and knowledgeable of my arse as they guide on in the area. . If you are a novice or an expert C-sucker from the get go, I just can’t see how one can not have a good experience with this guide service. I can’t understand, no matter how good a fly man one might be, that one would hired a guide service, but doesn’t want any input from the guide to gain valuable knowledge of the backsides he services. What a waste just to have him row the boat. That is not what a guide I want to do or does. That was probably the main problem.
<O:p</O:p

I had spoken with four other guests while there, and they were all repeat customers and even though they never met you two, we all agree you are just trouble. One has returned for three years after he got away fom being straight just hoping they will git it right just once, and coming back next year for the ‘hopper’ hatch. They must be doing something right, right?

Very truly yours,
Seth

I've ever used shops all over the west, some good, some not so much. Dennis is a hard core Upper Delaware angler and knows what he wants and what he's about. I thought his post was fourth right, and liked that he didn't post the shops name; to be what I thought was to be FAIR.

The shops response was not FAIR. He/She/They decided to go after Dennis on his own forum while hidding behind a forum handle.

It doesn't matter who told the the shop about the post (although interesting that this guy's ONLY TWO posts were now,how could he know to alert the shop, and since he left before Dennis, and Dennis didn't use the name of the shop, Brian was right about a plant).

So to be FAIR Dennis should name the shop, and if anyone here has used them they can let us know what their trip was like and what they think of the shop, its owners and guides.

Then we can decide if we would want to use them in the future.

I know plenty of fellow TU'ers from Jersey that head to the Big Sky Country every year...so it would be nice to advise them on this shop one way or another.

Yo, can I see a picture of this turd and worm? I wanna see if it's what I came down with last year after eating Cuchifrito in Spanish Harlem. After confirming this "hatch", I plan on high-sticking the killer combo on my trip to MT in two weeks. Fortunately it will be me, my girlfriend, and the Beartooths, no guides.

edit: I think this helped Urban Dictionary: Turd-Worm

Hey Kyle, where in MT are you going to be? I have to be out there for a family thing at the end of the month....

I'll be in Billings, then camping near Red Lodge and spending a day in Yellowstone. Where you headed?

Rusty, sorry I'm going against my work. I do have to make another posting.

AK; what I said about my sister's heath issue and mine is all true. My sister died back on April 17, 2008 after a long battle with liver disease. She was on the transplant list at Lourdes Medical Center in Camden NJ, and at the U of Penn Hospital in Phila, PA. For myself, I had fibroelastoma, a rare benign tumor occurring in the heart. I had surgery performed at Presbyterian Heart Institute in Phila, PA back in May 2008.

I am quite aware of this forum, as I live in the southern part of New Jersey near Cherry Hill. I know a lot what goes on this web page, especially the fine work Rusty Spinner does with TU in the State and his fine work on the Musky R, with the recent removal of the dams and other projects over the years. And I always enjoy his fishing reports.

I use this web page and the GS Trout site offen, to gain a better understating of flyfishing and the waters in NJ.

I'll pretty much be in Bigfork for the week. My grandmother is in the process of some aggressive Chemo and radiation therapy. But, I know I'll have some time to slip out and wet a line. Pretty much looking like the upper Flathead is going to be my stomping ground, unless the Swan decides to drop a ton and you can actually set foot in it without dropping in over your head!

Sure you can...

Tied together on 1 rig is a deadly combination. Just not my cup o'tea...

This is a San Juan worm with some type of thing they call a "turd" for obvious reasons... I'm not sure what it imitates but the fish lovem and it's easy to tie.

Don't make fun of my San Juan worm. I ran into the basement to tie this up. Since I don't use them, EVER... I tied this one as to the best my memory could recal.

Jay, you will only be 100 miles from the Blackfoot! I know that hardly qualifies as "slipping out" but it is the Blackfoot.

True.....I may just make that trip to make the $75 10 day fish pass worth it!

I would NEVER do that, but the place likes to fish Four different Rivers with lots of Fishing Company.

Hmm, A quick Google of "Blue Anchor Montana" results in three hits of consequence. All located within a few miles of Twin Bridges Montana.

One more Google search and a couple fly shops within spitting distance found. A person named "Robin" mentioned on the "Our Shop" web page... Ah there you are.

Nope never been there. I'll stick to West Yellowstone for my purchases while in MT. Bobby Jacklin knows everyone from NJ is a jerk and he can deal us and our nuances just fine. Never had any issues spending money there, hell we even sent $500 bucks to help build an outhouse on the Madison.

Might be worth it to swing by Twin Bridges on the way to the Missouri next time just to mention I'm not spending any money today just saying hello from the a$$holes on NEFF. Might even stop at the Blue Anchor for lunch and leave a big tip, sounded like a good place to eat.

If you stop by, make sure you tell them you are AKSkim. Everyone seems to like him, or at least thank him.

Today as usual I had nothing to do. So I decided to watch a movie and my choice came down to two of my all time favourites, COLD MOUNTAIN or NATIONAL TREASURE. It was a tough decision.. eeni... meeni... miini... moh... National Treasure is the way to go...

So, while watching National Treasure and thinking all about this thread.. it came to me how I AK SKIM NEFF's Sherlock Holmes Fanatic can solve who the identity of the bad, bbaaaaddddd... Montana Outfitter and prevent Future NEFF members from making the same mistake that Bar None and Dad did.

Number of threads had clues like the word RIVERS, other clues were FISHING.

I knew I was onto something here Lads... but it wasn't all falling into place till I sat and counted all the words written on this thread, once totaled I used the Fanatical-Futuristic Multi-Calculations and the common number was 4.

How many Montana "4" companies could be out there I wondered???

Google pulled up zippo.. nada...

I closed my eyes and retyped it in again.... this time using all the words...

this is what came up on Google: Did you mean: four river fish company

Well, never one to look a gift Lama in the behind.

I quick look under "Guides" and names like Curly-Cue Seth, Frank "The two finger corner stone", Eli "the 80's hair stylist", and ANYONE SEEN MIKE HUNT? appeared.

I am so-so good.

I AM SO-SO GOOD !!!!!

But what also convinced me I was right (AGAIN) was this blurb in their Four Rivers Fishing Company Guiding Philosophy section on their web site; There is a certain mindset we achieve while guiding... (I'll finish it for them) our clients don't know a lick of fishing."

To back up my point I quote;

The report from all of the guides was that you people from Joisy were the most difficult clients that they had ever had in their boat, EVER, BAR NONE! You think you know it all and can't be guided. The reason you did not fish again with Eli or Seth is that the REFUSED to take you out again.

Did I say I am GOOD?

I am GOOD

As always, I WIN!

AK Skim

It's not easy to do but you, my friend, really got my gizzard in a knot. See... I took the time out to explain to you my side of the situation but you're not giving me the satisfaction of replying to my well written response to your inahbility to think for yourself. You came in here with your mind already made up, "dcabarle is the bad guy, regardless of what he has to say". Well, maybe it wasn't that well written; see, I like to repeat myself myself over and over and over again. I get that trait from my grandmother. She likes to hear herself talk. JUST LIKE ME! AK stopped short for some reason or another of wishing that your heart machine skipped a few beats and laughing at your grandma for having her lymph nodes removed. Then he laughs at your daughter for having a peg leg and wooden arm. Then laughs at you again for the sake of laughing... AK loves a good laugh. AK Laughs at followers.

Anyhow, I think I have you all figured out now. Your quote above explains quite a bit... You hardly understand fly fishing... This is why it's so easy to satisfy you catching fish on a worm, a turd, and a balloon. You mention you're 65... That's pretty damned old, I hope you figure it out before it's too late otherwise, this outfitter is going to make a lot of $$$$ off of you. While they are smiling AT you in the shop and chumming it up, they'll be laughing AT you on the way to the bank while they count the dough you just handed over to them. Guess I can't blame them.

Did I mention the room we stayed in above the shop was well kept and pretty comfortable?

Best of luck.

After watching THAT movie, you could have saved yourself all that trouble, checked out post 53 (5+3 = 8... /2 = 4), put on your pair of multi-color John Lennon sun glasses and looked at the words with their first letters capitalized...

This is one of those cases where you are so far behind, you think you are first.

My work is so under appreciated...

Here was something else I saw on their web site.

"All of our units are professionally designed and decorated."

Now when was the last time a "Professional designer" worked in knotty pine paneling?

Even Red Green stopped using knotty pine when he discovered duct tape.

I would NEVER do that, but the place likes to fish Four different Rivers with lots of Fishing Company.

This is classic!
I'm sitting here reading this post intrigued because I've stayed at a friend's place in Twin Bridges a few times & my first thought was "when did the name change from the "Blue Anchor"?

I keep reading , ... interested to find out the name of the shop/guide service .... and, I'm starting to wonder if it's this one Fishing Company that I know of because I had similar experiences the few times I stepped in the place.

I won't go into details but I'll say this; While I was reading thru the posts, I was reserving judgement on the OP. Now, I totally understand.
Just classic.

Don't spare us the details... You have all of us morons waiting in suspense. Bring it on.

My experience is with the shop.. not with guide service.
I havent been out there in a couple years so maybe its not the same owner.

Anyway, the guy attending the shop (I presumed it was the owner but mybe not) was stand-offish & had some weird thing going... like he didnt trust anyone. Acted like anyone in there was going to steal the store. One day I went in, picked out some flies, I bought a shirt & hat, got side tracked trying out some other things like vests or something... and left my bag behind when I left the shop. Went back in a minute later to grab my bag & he ran over to me & all but accused of stealing something. I was like, dude.. I was just in here less than 5 minutes ago & this is my bag.. opened it & showed the contents. Very strange character... just the way he went about things.

After a few visits with the same kind of vibe, we took our business elsewhere.

The whole thing DCARB described about the penny pinching & the accusations about the flies.. it just made me think of my experience with the place.
