Depending on where you are it could be any a-typical mayfly. But that is a good assumption.
I have golden stone flies in the Doublekill behind my house in Orange county. I'm going to try to get pics of them this season. I've only ever seen them in the catskills before moving here
How big was it
Jeez...
Break out a ruler there, MAC.
It's 16mm
or if you click the photo it's 50mm.
Click it again and it's 116mm.

I posted a question a while back and they came up with an answer.
Then another....
and another....
I finally settled on "a tan bug with unusually long tails".
Let me save you the trouble...
Go with "a tan bug with kinda long tails."
You're welcome.
If you do try to have them take a whack at it,
you better have become very intimate with that gal...
They'll ask you things you'll only know if you had her under a microscope.
You may be right on the money. I fished with Ed Shenk once and someone came up to us with a "whats on the water" question and started spouting Latin etc.and asked Ed what he was using. He siad "I dont know, some little grey bastard in a size 14".
How big was it
If I were to imitate with Mercer's missing link, would I put a tail on it...and if I did, with the size of it I would probably have to use para-cord?
Very sparse paracord
