I am heading back to northern jersey tomorrow with my 16' Clack Driftboat for two weeks. Won't have much to do while I'm there and am looking for float options within two hours drive. Not interested in going to the SR as its a bit too far and I just finished guiding steelhead in Erie. Advice? Main Stem of Delaware? Anything else? Anyone want to go?

cdun might know a good place to float.

i vote klg.

or bear swamp creek.

all seriousness -- i'd love to get out but i'll be in minnesota for the holidays. hopefully it'll be warm enough to hit the driftless...

I will be around and would float the KLG.

Deep pools for wintering smallies in the Delaware from P,burg north. Not many people do it, but often the biggest smallies of the year are caught that way. Can drift around the bars off mouths of creeks for walleyes.

Gonna go fish tomorrow somewhere, somehow. If I can find a place to float I will if not I'm gonna wade. There's an old post on here that I found about a guy floating the South Branch around Flemington. Anyone know anything about this? Anyone that wants to fish tomorrow PM me.

Might want to look into floating the Ramapo for some Northern pike fishing.
Unless you're pulling his leg...
The Passaic River is a better bet for Pike... It's also big enough to float without pissing off every other fisherman you pass.

The only Pike fishing in the Ramapo system is in the Pompton Lake, and it's not really a Pike hotspot.

There are no pikes in the Passaic. :)

Actually the river is up enough now to float just about anywhere. The biggest obstacle will be put in and take out spots if you are looking for a one way float.
Picture posted this morning on another forum of a beast caught that was estimated at over 20 lbs. Judging from photo, that was a conservative estimate.

Pete I floated it two weeks ago and didn't move a fish but that's pike. I don't undrstand how the big D isn't good in the winter. Our upper Colorado river is insane in the winter and is very similar. Ideas?

You might want to take another float. Here is a pic of a pike that was posted on another forum that was caught this past weekend. I cropped his face to protect his identity.

That's a beast. Was it fly caught? The Main Stem is just soooooo intriguing. So similar to our Colorado river which fishes soooo well in the winter.
