    Catskills Report

Guys get ready! since the action has started.Water temps started out in the mid 40' and are reaching about 50.Air temps will be in the 60's and70' all week and the rivers are receeding.

Plenty of stones bringing up some fish, also Brachycentrus(caddis)16/18 have started coming off as well and moving some fish..Observed some small olives(Baetis) size 18/20.The baetis will be coming off in earnest this coming week ,especially on cloudy days.Seined and observed "Paraleps"(Blue quills) nymphs ,Epeorus Pleuralis(quill gordins)nymphs, and Ephemerella Subvaria(Hendrickson)nymphs.

All nymphs had darkened wing pads but not black just yet. With the water temps getting into the 50's this coming week you will sart to see the Quill gordons by next weekend, paraleps 7-10 days and hendricksons in the next 7-14,of course this will vary from stream to stream.

Bottom line Get up there if it is surface activity you have been waiting for all winter long!!!!!!!!!!

The Big rainbows are on the move, and the browns were hungry.

The water temps are getting into the 50's.

Rumor has it that some blue quills and quill gordons were seen today.

Al Caucci caught some monsters yesterday that were all over the tiny stones.

He also seined the west branch and says we should see Hendrickson by next week.

He also discovered "very good" Populations of Subvaria(Hendrickson) and Blue quills (paraleps).

As I said over the winter this is going to be a great season with regards to hatches!

I believe his report is on his web site today.(Al Caucci)Mayfly.com

Aslo guys let me know if you want Catskill river reports,Every week?

I know you can get them from the various "flyshops" but these will be from the JOE.T> NO SPIN FISHING REPORT.

I am up there at least 5 days a week and have a few good Friends who live up there and are Outfitters and guides as well.

Lets just say I have a " beat" on the rivers and can get you "dialed" in if you need that.

Anyway up to you guys If I get no responses than I will take it as nobody needs or wants a report which is fine.

    Joe,

We'll take the reports as often as you can dish them out even if that's multiple times per day!

    Dennis

I'll definetely be up on Saturday. Are you going to be around?
