For Sale.
If I were able to offer various fly fishing things, Hooks / Fly Boxes / tippet materials / etc... At discount prices, would you purchase them from this site?

I guess but I've got more questions....
What would be the payment/shipping/return options?
Who could I speak with if I had a question on an item?
I tend tend to frequent on-line fly shops that have fairly extensive line of product offerings an inventory to match along with good phone service. I shop at about 3-4 on a regular basis.
So....If you had just a couple of items, unless they were highly specialized, I would proably not shop here but at a full service on-line fly shop.

Sure, if you sold the stuff I was looking to purchase.
If you are the retailer .... Just to point out a couple of things such as you’re going to need a tax exempt number (when you purchase items at whole sale to avoid getting taxed). If you sell to people in jersey, you might need to charge 6% (of course, get a license to collect tax). Don't forget to get some insurance; people might hold you liable too..... Just some food for thought

Interesting / valid points.
Thanks guys. I think I've already changed my mind from what you guys have said.
It seems like more of a hassle than anything. Thanks for the reply's though.

but ....
You could try to solicit from stores to have their links placed on your site. You could accept a rebate for items purchased, a personal discount, or a special group discount.
Maybe a local chapter or a manufacture could sponsor you (if its sage, don't forget your friends hehehehe). Your site is very nice and I believe you also started a pre-opening day clean up at the KLG.
You never know until look under that stone. Just more ideas that run along that original plan.

Hi Dennis,
Why not simply create a Forum called For Sale and let people post items they may wish to advertise? It probably won't get much traffic until the overall site generates more, but making it a regular Forum does give users of your site an area to post items they may wish to get rid of. Haggling can take place offline through simple exchanges of email, or via replies to the forum.
Along the same lines, a Wants Forum is also something to think about. This forum could be used for people who are looking for something.
ps Since the site boo-boo the other day, it's been snappy! Also like the main index showing recently updated threads / forums. Site traffic is definitely picking up!
Cheers,
Shawn

Tommye had a very good suggestion. It would certainly be alot easier to have a few key sponsors with links on your site than it would to become a full fledged e-tailer yourself. Not that starting it is impossible but like any business venture it comes with it's own set of issues and headaches. It's very likely that managing the board and shop would severly eat into your time astream!
Plenty of sites solicit key sponsors and get a small percentage of every sale made from the link. It works for everyone involved.

Re: For Sale.
There is just so much of this stuff available on ebay, store sales, fishing flea markets, ect I would not feel compelled to use you as a source, nothing personal just you can get this sutff anyplace. I sometimes wonder how fly shops and the like sell anything on line with everyone else selling the same merchandise. Its like going to a special site to buy milk, you can it anywhere.

On a side note they were ignoring a bunch of small olives and also a fair amount of ISO's.
