I’m going sling pack
Vest is too hot this time of year, and with my muscular frame it’s hard for me to get my biceps through the openings. Waist packs are good but it sits lower to the water for greater chance of getting gear wet plus, I like to pack a rain jacket. So I have a sling pack coming that I hope bridges the gap.

Re: I’m going sling pack
I like a sling pack for the saltwater where I need far less gear than for trout. I left the vest days a decade ago and love my chest pack (William Joseph). This time of year with limited hatches and the heat, the sling pack should be all you need.
And not to worry, we won't tell anyone you're too fat to fit in your vest after hiding in your basement eating pizza for four months.

Look, wbdluver finally came out of the closet. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Re: I’m going sling pack
Chest pack, fanny pack or sling pack. They are all the same purse, just worn differently.

Re: I’m going sling pack
I still consider the right vest far superior to the flat brimmed hat millennial inspired man purse , when wade fishing. Theres vented mesh summer vests when it’s too hot . The fly fishing vest invented by Lee Wulff is one of the most perfect fly fishing tools ever made. I know the wanna be cool kids who think they’re posing for a cover shot on fly fishing magazine wouldn’t be caught dead in a vest . Their inner low self esteem and burning desire to be thought of as “cool” and trendy and hate of anything a “ boomer” would wear makes them cling to their stupid sling purse as the modern cool thing to use. I think they look stupid , and are not as practical as the right vest. With a vest everything is right there in front of you in its place when you need it . With the sling purse you have to sling this stupid duffel
Bag from your back to your front and dig through it like a chick looking through her purse . That being said I do have a few chest packs I use when just going light and only going to carry a few things. When in my boat or raft I usually just use a boat bag and carry neither.
Sorry about the long tirade about the sling purse , but the demise of the vest as the iconic thing that it is in fly fishing is ridiculous, and I think
sling purses look stupid. I probably own about 7 or 8 vests of different designs by Orvis , Simms, Fish pond etc and wouldn’t trade one of them for a sling purse. I would cancel your order now WBD before you start
shopping for flat brimmed trucker hats, grow a hipster beard and start hanging out in fair trade only coffee shops in Brooklyn with Moosekid.
The sling purse is the gateway drug to all that. The sling purse will eventually go the way of Bell Bottom pants and Justin Bieber and
Other feeble attempts to feminize our society. Sling purses should only

Re: I’m going sling pack
I tried a sling pack a few years back and just as Hatchman stated it was like trying to get something out of your wife's purse. Also, when wading deep, I didn't know it was hanging so low and got everything soaked. After that I picked up a Fish pond vest and am completely satisfied.

I spent several springs fishing the Lackawaxen long ago, before I moved up the Delaware and discovered the tail waters. I fished with Charlie and Ivan and those other geezers who hung out around that...
