Fly Fisherman of the Year
So who's going to the NJ Trout Unlimited event this Saturday at the Raritan Inn water to watch the boys try to catch those wily trout of Shannon's private waters that think the pellet hatch is a natural phenomenon? Really, the trout think the sun has to line up every third day at the right time, and the water temps have to be just right, and the moon, and the wind, and the barometer..........and suddenly the water is filled with these edible, pellet shaped, wingless spinners falling on the water.
Ok, so let's hear from you all - what will the winning fly be? A mop? A bugger? An egg?
I'm going with a two-faced, simple legged, one-eyed, hard hackle horses ass.....size #6/0 fished on a 10 foot, 2 weight bamboo made by Per Brandin using a Garrison taper 3 piece model with a carbuncle burl up-locking reel seat. Yep, Everett Garrison...look him up, the real deal.
Smell that!
See you Saturday.
Mel

Re: Fly Fisherman of the Year
Every one of you had the wrong answer......what the hell is wrong with this board? In fact, the winner of the event didn't even catch a damn trout! You all should have known this when I asked the question. When I posted the question, I knew (and so should you have) that the river would be out of its banks and flooding the fields and roads along the river valley. AND, you should have known that the event would be moved to the ponds on the Black Oak Golf Club in high winds. Still it was a good turnout and in the end some dude from East Jersey TU caught the most bass , sunnies and bluegills to win the big prize - angler of the year - Mr. Maduro. Congrats. Word has it that he was fishing a copper john, yep, all of you were wrong! I guessed it, but like some of the folks that post here, I KNOW EVERYTHING.
The day was fun, the banquet was good and everyone got along......for once.
Did any of you google Everett Garrison? NO, you all suck.
See you in church tomorrow, and don't be late....or early, the clocks go back an hour you dumb asses.
Go in peace.

Re: Fly Fisherman of the Year
the movie effect is finally winding down? At least the rivers aren't crowded anymore.
