I rarely fish them, more of a novelty, although, when I have tied one of them on I have caught trout...the pattern is a trout fly, a Ray Bergman pattern, he is a Jersey boy too, I bet it would catch a salmon though.

    Re: The Irish Turkey

Bergman's book "Trout" is the shit. My uncle gave me a super old copy when I was like 12 and living in Minnesota. I revisited it this summer, and found it super cool that he was largely writing about the catskill waters that I fish nowadays..

Lacey: Where'd you get that pistol?
    Blevins: At the gettin' place.

That shows my historical knowledge of flies. Lol!I looked at it quickly
Before posting. I see now that’ it’s a wet fly. Very nicely tied!
I haven’t tied in a while. I haven’t even set up my desk since
We’ve moved to the farm, just been too busy. Since our church cancelled
Their youth group on Friday nights , I think I’m going to set up my tying
Area an do “ Friday night Fly tying “ with my kids, order pizza and make
    It fun.

What is that, and the stuff behind the fly is white, I did use some adjustments after the picture was taken to make the fly more visible, maybe you could photograph them for me.. might come out a lot better.

Thanks. Fish yes ( spin fish , for now), but do not tie yet. Plan on doing a lot more of both this
Year. The Susquehanna river is across the road from the farm and the West Branch is about 15 minutes away.

I thought the Irish Turkey was some Jameson/Wild Turkey concoction you serve at that MacDonald's you work at.
