Re: Conversation with Ian Sheldon
There are no fish with adipose fins in the State of New Jersey.
Ummmm, correct me if I am wrong....every single trout I have ever caught in NJ has an adipose fin.....
The adipose fin is a soft, fleshy fin found on the back behind the dorsal fin and just forward of the caudal fin. It is absent in many fish families, but is found in Salmonidae, characins and catfishes. Its function has remained a mystery, and is frequently clipped off to mark hatchery-raised fish, though data from 2005 showed that trout with their adipose fin removed have an 8% higher tailbeat frequency.[23] Additional research published in 2011 has suggested that the fin may be vital for the detection of and response to stimuli such as touch, sound and changes in pressure. Canadian researchers identified a neural network in the fin, indicating that it likely has a sensory function, but are still not sure exactly what the consequences of removing it are.[24]
or are you just an uniformed boob......
Being from New Jersey, I know very little about these issues. Until today, I had never heard of the adipose fin. In fact, I have never seen an adipose fin, which, it turns out, has a rather simple explanation
Maybe you have never caught a tout in NJ?

Re: Conversation with Ian Sheldon
The premise is good, and it is good that you spoke with the guide, but the problem is you have alienated so many internet boobs that no one but a boob like me reads your internet rag.....so not many will see it.......your 5000 plus hits are probably more than half you checking out how many hits you got.........
Still, you need to 'splain to me why you think adipose fins do not exist in New Jersey....we don't clip them because in NJ you can keep a wild fish, a shame I agree, but that is how it is....
anyway, it is probably not the smartest thing to do, as the fish need that little fleshy appendage, as much as you do Beetle..
