    Ramapo River Restoration Project Moves Along

    I was asked to attend last night's Borough of Oakland council meeting to answer questions and continue working with the town and their engineering firm to help with what will be a nearly 2 3/4 mile channel restoration project from the Mahwah border downstream to where the Army Corps flood mitigation project began.

    For those wondering, the reason TU is committing staff time to this is because our CEO offered any private or public landowners who experienced channel damage from Hurricane Irene staff help. I was engaged by the Borough initially through their Flood Commission and later by Borough council to help with this project. I have been very happy to see a single town in the greater Passaic River Basin enlightened about restoring a river's health rather than another attempt to channelize it and move flooding elsewhere. And for those of you that fish or even paddle the 'Po, you will enjoy your outings more once this is done. Here's today's article:
