Yup. That first one is fresh from the salt. Should see the rich color of the fresh meat! Only allowed to keep one salmon a day. Once you kill a fish you have to stop fishing. So a person only needs to catch one good one a day. The second one is really beat up and has been hanging out in the fresh water for a good while. Her meat was already turning light pink and was mushy.

    Alaska......

Well.....we were on our way to the Russian, but then we saw the bumper to bumper traffic before we even got to the Peninsula, so we turned around and went north to Willow Creek.

This was our first time fishing the creek and it was certainly a learning experience, but fun none the less.

Hillery was throwing egg patterns and beads and I was attempting to swing a leech. Her beads out fished my attempts at swinging. I had to get one fish so I gave in and fished a bead.

One of Hillery's rainbows from today.

You can't fish for kings on Willow Creek right now, but there were some huge! And I mean HUGE kings in there. I wish I had a camera with a polarized lens. I was standing on top of a railroad bridge and saw at least four to five kings that were well over 40lbs and a couple that were pushing over 50lbs. These things were huge! There was a good pod of about thirty five fish waiting to push up. At this point they are all red and getting ready to spawn.

Hit the Russian today. Water was down quite a bit from the last time. Seems that most of the bigger rainbows moved out when the salmon pushed up. Biggest we got today was around 16". Wife hit a bunch on glo bugs and I swung up one on a flesh fly and a black leech. Hopefully more big rainbows move in with the next wave of reds.

Hillery fighting one of her many from today.

Fished a creek five minutes from the house today. Can only fish for rainbows, dollies, and cohos when they come in. We caught more dollies than you could shake a stick at as well as a few bows. Saw some monster sharks in there upwards of 40lbs.

    Russian river looks exciting

My biggest worry is that my wife(when I die) will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

I haven't seen any bears up there. I have heard they are around, but where I have been there have been none. A lot of snaggers when the salmon are in. Probably be more now that the water is low and even more reds are coming in.

    Alaska......

Some more pictures from yesterday. Fished almost 16 hours straight! Dluver, the balloon boat is sweet! Great for these tight little creeks.

Not sure if any of you noticed the fly in the pic, but we were using flesh for most of our fish. These fish were taking 4" rabbit strip flesh flies like it was cool. Hungry bastards.

    Bears.....

Those PVC rod tubes on your water craft are a must for some of these tight places we float through. Lots of log jams and trees to grab your rods.
