I would avoid the Patagonia down jacket. If it gets wet you lose all the insulation the down provides when dry.

Go with simms, you won't regret it.

Also... What are your measurements so I can see what size I need if I decide to go this way?

Ok, I'll say it. Wearing Simms stuff for stuff other than fishing makes you look like a bit of a tool. Like the guy who wears his shooting vest everywhere, the dude who wears his photography vest everyday, the dude who wears jeans and an NFL jacket skiing, the geek who wears his larping cape to school.

Roll up the windows Brian, you're letting the stank out.

Maybe, but you only look like a tool to other fisherman, uninitiated chicks like that rugged outdoor look

It is very warm. It's what is in the jackets and pants issued to us for Afghanistan.

I think that is the look DC is shooting for, he is the same guy who leaves 35 lift tickets on his ski jacket........

The primo jacket shell is 100% water repellent. It's not going to get wet. Any Patagonia jacket coated with DWR is gonna bead water off. I have a guide shell for 10 years that is still the best rain jacket I have owned. The down fill will keep you warmer then primaloft so if you are skiing on a really cold ass day you will appreciate the down filling over primaloft. Dont listen to to these cyber boobs. Theyy get all moist in tier panties about Simms gear

Research "Primaloft ONE". It's the best insulation out there for the weight, which is extremely light. I will be using it all winter. I'll be wearing it again this weekend, will report back.

35 lift tickets, stretch pants with knee pads, K2's from 1985, rear-entry boots, and a neon pink jacket.

Uninitiated chicks? I've seen some of you guys, its gonna take alot more than a nice jacket to "initiate" them. More like lots of alcohol, lies, roofies, duct and zip ties.
