Yeah, who needs a job when we can all just live off the government.
There are ways to drill and mine safely. It's being done right now. But even taking the risk of mining safely at the headwaters of a fishery that is sensitive as it is, would not be an acceptable risk.

Re: Nyc does not reflect our entire state
I'm conflicted when it comes to the drilling thing... in one sense as a fisherman I hate the idea bc of what Ctobias implies in his post, its just too risky regardless of whether or not the proper safety measures are in place. Its just a matter of time until something happens, and 1 setback on a stream involving a toxic spill can result in serious long term damage that perhaps can never be fully repaired. On the other hand, I've been driving around upstate new york for a long time now and I've driven through too many towns for too long to deny that the upstate area needs an economic boost. The catskills in particular have declined drastically in how the towns look, are kept, ect and that points to one thing---->less money or perhaps higher costs to manage the towns up there. Hell, deposit can't even support a deli for more than year without selling or going out of business and just about every lunch spot in that town has gone out of business or drastically downgraded their hours to become a temporary limited income business at best. Many have gone out of business.
In that sense, I see why people who are thinking economically instead of environmentally want to drill, and honestly its tough to blame them. I think it inevitably will take place, how long that will be is tough to say.

Re: Nyc does not reflect our entire state
You're mistaking my point of view for protecting our natural resources, which you publicly advocate, for that of relying on the government for means of survival. Not what I'm saying dude.
You can spin what I am saying any way you want, another thing you publicly advocate.

Never taken a handout from the government. Just a paycheck. An earned paycheck.
I'm not confused about anything. I can see the direction this country is heading. It started long before I was born. Back with Woodrow Wilson, FDR. The progressive/liberal movement is killing this country. Them and all the politicians working for special interest groups.

Well unless you are catering to the South Jersey crowd, you better make those "crispy Taylor Ham sandwiches".
