What & where on the Delaware River?

I live in Hunterdon County, and have fished all sections from the Delaware via canoe from Hancock, NY all the way south to Milford, NJ. It has been years and I was only using spinning gear before. Now I wanna throw some flies. Best places to wade near hunterdon county? I only really know trout flies, so I need some direction on what kind of flies for all the species in the Delaware. Thanks.

Anywhere will be good. In the summer the riffles and runs are more productive; the pools will be slow. Wooly buggers in black, brown, and root beer are staples - fish them deep and slow. Swinging a streamer, like a chartreuse and white clouser minnow, is good. Pretty soon the shadlings will be heading downstream and most white streamers about 2" long will do fine. Finally, in the evening into night poppers and sliders will work. I like pencil poppers. Bass will start hunting the shallows for minnows as darkness falls.

Dont be afraid to throw poppers in the heat of the day. Just be sure your casting a good 40' min, and dont slap the line. I catch some of my best smallies mid day on pops and sliders. , If your familiar with the river, mile 41-45 is my favorite summer fishing area. Smallies, walleye, strippers, catfish, musky, and several others species all populate the area in good numbers. As Jeff said buggers and clousers are great for down under.

Johnny where are the mile markers in the river? I never noticed them before.

Any road that follows the delaware has the markers. Not sure about up in catskills though. I know from the gap down there is.
