As many may know the Salmon River in Pulaski, New York is a very popular river. Instead of fishing with the crowds (which can be very tough to not do) I have provided a google earth snap shot of some spots you may wish to try during future trips. (water dependent of course)
The course of the snap shots will start from Altmar and work towards the lake. I have left off the fly zones because I think everyone and their 2nd cousin's uncle knows how to get to these areas. I will start below the LFZ and note the key areas you may want to try.
Note: Most of the fish in the next coming weeks will begin dropping back to the lake after they have spawned and will be found in the faster water you would normally find fish in during the fall when they first enter the river system.
These aren't all the spots by any means, and I'm sure some people will be angry that I posted this. Anyone with half a brain can figure out how to read a map though. Or maybe not since most people have a GPS that talks to them.

Re: Salmon River, Pulaski, New York Swinging Cheat Sheet
Wow dude, this is awesome! This has been my first season fishing steelhead (or above the esturary for that matter) and i really don't have ANY idea where to fish.. The only place ive caught fish was just above the bridge in Altmar...
Its deffinatly not what im use to encountering, but some of the guys up there were decent enought to show me how to drift stones downstream and give me advice on how to cast my switch rod and what-not.. Sometimes i feel like a complete fucking retard trying to cast that thing. LOL.
CT, keep up the good work!!

Nice post. I have fished most of those spots and can confirm the fishiness of them. The barrel hole was filled in by the flood and is usually as crowded as the LFZ with spin fishers. I love the entire stretch below Pineville and around the bend, well worth the walk. Once you hit Pineville, the crowds really lesson up.

Water release this weekend. Summer is a great time to chase atlantics and skams as well as learn the river!

Re: Salmon River, Pulaski, New York Swinging Cheat Sheet
Thanks, Lynch. It seems most of these places (Pineville) are good spring locations... Are any worth visiting this time of year (late Sep/early Oct)? Thanks again!

It depends what you are fishing for. If you are chasing salmon, anywhere on the river will be good. The further up you go, the more gun shy they are due to the constant lead bombs being thrown at them. For steelhead, the further down river, the better the odds, although you then will have to deal with the combat fishing. Don't be afraid to walk away from the crowds, most people are lazy and will only venture 500' from the parking lots. All in all, that's a tough time of year to go and I avoid the river from now until the 3rd week of October strictly due to the crowds and countless unethical and rude "anglers". Pineville and upstream really start to come alive with steelhead the 3rd week of October and the crowds start to lesson some, but not as much as it used to. Good luck and report back on how you do!
