Some dry fly patterns

Just wanted to share a few dry fly patterns I have tied up. I have to keep busy somehow over here, might as well fill my fly box.

That extended body is pretty unique , I haven't seen one tied with biots , not even in any of the Rene Harrops books , and he is always using turkey and goose biots . Again very nice flies.

Outstanding. How did you extend that biot out like that? I'm big into the biot, need to know this.

For the extended body biot i first tie in the moose hair for the tail. Then I tie in a piece of hackle stem that has been stripped. Easiest way to tie the biot in is flip the hook around tie it in after you have wrapped the extended body to hold it still. I have used a dab of super glue to tack the biot in place and then have wrapped it with thread to secure it and this has worked also. the biggest PITA is wrapping the extended body with the thread. Getting the biot on there and wrapping the body is the easy part. Took about three crappy flies at first to figure it out. Then it was a lot easier.

So the Yellow Sallies in the GSNP are actually yellow? Interesting, the regional variability of the color. Where I fish up in VT they are almost chartreuse green. As a result, all of my small stream patterns are heavy with the green, and it slays them. I used to fish traditional yellow, and after switching to green (following some more careful on-stream observation) the results were dramatic.

Trout Nazi, there are both kinds of lil stoneflies, some call the green or chartreuse ones you prefer the lime sally , the lil yellow sally is also a mainstay, if you fish any where in the mountains of Pa you can come across both species hatchin right alkong with sulphers an green drakes

CTobias - have you ever used the pre-made extended body materials as a base for that extended body fly? I have some of those, but have not tried. Was just curious. BTW, I love tying biot bodied dries and an extended version should be deadly!

I haven't. I'm too cheap. I just use a stripped feather (one similiar in diameter to the hook) and then trim it off after I have secured the biot body.
