Re: Trout Unlimited
I am a member but I wouldn't say proud. I belong for the other folks in the Chapter. I also belong to FFF, CFFCM and the Catskill Fly Tyers Guild. I am more proud of the CFFCM.

Re: Trout Unlimited
It is good to be a member, but that doesn't preclude you from attending any of the meetings.
If there is a guest speaker you would like to listen to his/her presentation, or a fly tying night at any of the chapters, show up.
They don't check membership cards at the door.

Re: Trout Unlimited
Just got home from a TU regional mtg. of mostly grassroots leadership from all ten states in New England and the Mid-Atlantic regions. It was inspiring to hear about all of the dam removals, culvert removals, riparian re-vegetation projects, in-stream flow protection laws, efforts to protect our clean, cold water from things such as hydro fracking in the Marcellus Shale region, etc.
If you're not a member, ask yourself what other organization is doing as much for native trout and salmon? Gotta run, we're removing the 3 remnant dams on the lower Musky in Riegelsville later this week and I need to figure out the best mobilization of our contractor's equipment when he arrives on Thursday to perform this work after I sign up another landowner to a NJ Green Acres contract so we can preserve more lands along the river for open public access in the future. Lots and lots of projects coming up soon, stay tuned for details on how any of you can help in these efforts. We have a cattle fence to install in Asbury and 5 strand wires to pull to string up that fence, followed by numerous riparian re-vegetation projects and in-channel restoration projects that will take us right up to the winter months before we are forced out of the river.

Re: Trout Unlimited
Like basically all organizations, with TU you will only get out what you put in. Expect to have everything handed to you and you will be disappointed. Help out and become involved and you will make some great fishing friends and learn a lot.
My sermon for the day.

Also in attendance were members from Maryland and Delaware to add to the Sib's list.

On a side note they were ignoring a bunch of small olives and also a fair amount of ISO's.
