    Ken Lockwood Gorge

Those of you wondering about the KLG conditions... The water is clear and the conditions were ideal today. For Saturday, March 19, 2011 it's going to be a bit cooler outside.

The early black stones were out and about. The water levels were just about perfect, a tad high but not bad at all.

    Needed directions from here:

    Clinton? Who the hell knows.

    I Found this:

    Getting close?

Questions about rules? Ask no more.

I think this little guy qualifies.

Saw some kid take this monster out of the "Meat Hole" with a spinning rod. As he got ready to put it on his stringer it got away. I guess this is why they call it the meat hole?

    Beavers? What beavers?

Had to test the new 400mm lens on something.

...and finally, it was a nice day for a casual walk through the gorge.

I thought the road was closed but there were plenty of cars driving through.

WOW... that last photo of the gorge was outstanding!

I am sure those road signs and directions will help someone figure out their way there.

Dennis - what filter(s) were you using on the last photo?

As for the road, it's open from the top down to the parking lot immediately below Trestle Pool and then closed down to the bottom parking lot or should be. Haven't been there in awhile (forgot dirextions from rt. 78 clinton)

Sorry for the delay in answering your question here. I meant to answer it when you asked but got sidetracked then forgot.

The last photo was taken with a Tokina 11-16mm super wide lens with no filters (This is the only non-nikon lens I own because the quality is phenominal and beat the Nikon equivelant in this range). This is also not just 1 photo but a combination of 3-5 (Can't remember off the top of my head) photos taken at various exposure levels (High Dynamic Range). I'm sure with some superficial processing this can be done with a cheap digital point and shoot camera but you'll get the best results using a real camera.

NOW... since we couldn't find anyone to make me laugh with 500 words, maybe we should have a photography contest for the WULFF TT fly line.

Those directions can easily be searched for on GST.

    Re: Ken Lockwood Gorge

Thanks, Dennis. I was hiking the KLG road a couple of weekends ago with my son (not quite 3y/o) in a backpack carrier. I saw that beaver-chewed tree on the opposite bank. I wanted to show it to him but thought it would be frustrating to try to pick out a single tree among the 100's in view. I'll be sure to show it to him at home. Great detail in that pic.
