A few years ago I posted something similar to this topic but can no longer locate the post. Having a 5 year old daughter brings back a lot of great Christmas memories. I assembled my top 5 all time best Christmas presents when i was a kid.
In no particular order
1. AFX race car set: this was a great present. But it got abused and broke quickly with 4 boys beating on it
2. Rock'm Sock'm Robots.: come on now who doesn't remember this toy growing up
3. Gi Joe with Kung Fu grip: I had every possible figure you could buy. It was awesome.
4. Mr Quarterback: must have present when I was like 11 years old. Handheld football game with nothing but flashing lights and sounds. Kids today would be apalled.
5 Eagle Claw flyfishing outfit. This is the gift that started it al. Fiberglass eagle claw fly rod and Martin Fly reel. Bugged the for months about it.
Post your favorites and let's see what kind if list we can come up with.

BTw this was not the bullshit plastic GiJoe you get today this was the real deal. He was almost as big as me. We used to share our clothes, he had real facial hair. The helicopter that came with it was a 2 kid lift

I was very young and received a one piece fiberglass spin set. It is a weird green colour, and is still intact at my brothers atttic. That rod sent me on a trip just started.

Re: Top Five Christmas Gifts Growing Up
My favorite Christmas gift was a 1978 Huffy Bandit...Freedom to go fishing the local river and ponds..
2nd was air rifle that shot BB's ,pellets, darts...
3rd. Diawa 500c Mini spin rod... It was my first good trout fishing rod...
4th. K2 skis..
5th. Rubber duck boat with a 9.9hp motor.. So I could cruise around the marina and bay crabbing and snapper fishing..

1. Browning Superposed Midas grade (made in Belgium) 12 ga shotgun. (since my b'day is 12/17, it was a combo gift) Still have it, too.
2. South Bend Finalist fly reel on a Fenwick glass fly rod.
3. Aurora "Stirling Moss" HO slot car set.
4. The absolutely largest set of Lincoln Logs known to man. I think I could have built the Empire State Bldg with it...in real size.
5. Radio controlled F4U Corsair...unfortunately I crashed it into the Atlantic. That's a story in itself.
Gee Ward, don't you think you were a little hard on the Beaver last night?

I think my brother had that Mr. Quarterback game... All it had was small red led lights that would flash.. And make only one buzz sound.. Think kids today would get more of a charge out of licking the 9 volt battery then playing that game...
