    Looking for Info

I have a fly that is on printed card that says tied by L.W. Samson Remsen, NY. I did a search and found out he was a rod builder but there was nothing about his flies. Any info would be appreciated.

    Re: Looking for Info

    Narcodog,
Just wanted to let you know I checked w/ a couple of my stepdad's builder buddies that are still in touch. One of them did remember him, but didnt have any info on his tying. I asked him to give me a shout if he comes across anything, so if I hear anything I will be sure to pass it on.

    Have a good One,

    Brough

Thanks Bro, Brew or what is it that Ronbo calls you. I have posted it else where and although there was some interest as to he was or is no one has come up with any info.

I ran across this thread in a Google search, Lyle W. Samson was my Great Grandfather and he ran Samson's Fly Tying Studio in Remsen NY near Utica. I'm not sure of the years he was open but he passed away in the late 60's. He made both rods and tied flies but I believe he dealt more with flies. At my mother's house we have a framed display of the varieties of flies he made, also possibly some rods and a few other knick knacks. When I was a little kid I remember going to my late Grandfather's house and he used to have some of the leftover stuff from the Studio in the basement. If anyone wants any more info on them I could find out more, although I'm not sure how much my Mom knows about it.
