    Re: SWAP 2010 Round 3

OK, Pete is getting nervous & I would want any bad JU-JU in this last swap so, 16 it is. Tie & send 16 please. It makes it way easier for me to sort & if this is your favorite fly, you get one back to put in your box that you're going to fish anyway. I'm glad to see we picked up some folks who didn't make rounds 1 & 2

How does a mail date of March 5 work for everyone? That's 3 weeks and a couple of days from now. If you want more time, chime in & we will move it out some more.

Mike, Ya' know, Living in the Adirondacks you always want to send your snow fall down to some smart a$$ who calls or e-mails you telling you how beautiful it is "down here" while your a-hole deep to a ten foot indian in snow pack. Well, today is payback day. Total snow fall for the season here= 23", on the ground here= 3" of tight crust & the wheeler drives on top of it everywhere w/o breaking through.

    ENJOY everyone!

    DH~

    Hey DH:

Could you move the swap out just one more week. I am taking My CCENT test that weekend on March 6, 2010 and will be cramming the study efforts all through that week.. I will be tying a wet fly but do not know which pattern yet. Will let you know shortly.

    Re: SWAP 2010 Round 3

    You got it Andy.
    Mail date is March 12.

Bobby Wilds asked some good questions about swap logistics soI thought this might be helpful to all:

    Ok here's the deal:
*The best box to use to ship & receive your flies in is an old cassette tape box. Even if your flies are small dries, you may be getting an 8x long streamer back.
*Put it in soft sided mailer envelope with another soft sided mailer envelope so I can send them back to you.
*Have it weighted at the post office when you ship it out. Put enough postage on the returing envelope too.
*Toe tag all your flies so, when the tiers get flies back, they know who tied them. You don't have to list the entire recipe, just your Board name & the name of the fly.
*write your real name & board name on your cassette box. (this makes it so much easier for me)

    My address is:

No trouble. I enjoy it. I like giving everyone a chance to do this. If the swap didn't happen, all I could do is look at AndyB's Flies, now I own some. I wouldn't have to chance to send some materials to a young, enthusiastic tier like Justyn. I wouldn't have the chance to interact with all the people I haven't yet met. The swap keeps me in touch with people I have had the honor to fish with like PRomano. It also keeps me in good sted with the King, right AK? LOL. Swaps encourage lots of people who would just read a post to get more interactive with the board & that is why we are all here.

    Re: SWAP 2010 Round 3

My flies are done for round 3 I tied a #14 "Katterman" it's an old Walt Dette pattern that Frank Kutner showed me years ago, he has a shop up in Livingston Manor and always told me that this was a great fly, yet you don't see it in many fly shops.

It's an attractor dry fly but I've had great success with sinking it at the end of a drift.

    Recipe as follows

    Hook: Mustad 94840 #14
    Tail: Brown Hackle fibers
    Body: Peacock Herl
    Rib: Brown Hackle palmered
    Thorax: White Hackle
    Thread: White or Cream

DH I also say thanks for organizing the swaps it's been fun. Our TU chapter has one coming up in March but it's nice to do with new folks. Our chapter is going to be up on the Ausable 2nd weekend in June maybe we could hook up for a little fishing then.

    Re: SWAP 2010 Round 3

Double Haul, Once i get the other flies and materials i will try a bunch of muddler minnows and see how i do with them. I will see if they are good enough for the swap.
