Looks like my decision is made then. Everyone that has experienced the Wulff loves it, found out one of my buddies recently started using it as well. I'll be picking one up before spring for sure.

    Thanks everyone for the input!

Anyone have a view as to what color line to use. I see Ivory or Olive as options. Just curious.

I have used both and the Ivory has actually had more striked than olive. When a trout is looking up and his backdrop is the sky any dark color line will stand out like a neon light at a strip mall.

Re: 5wt sharkskin or wulff triangle taper

I like my 3 wt. Sage SPL, a very soft full flex rod. I thought the Wulff might not cast well with it but gave it a try and was pleasantly surprised with even a 4 Wulff on my 3 wt rod. I think the full flex even adds to the smooth unrolling of the line.

Does anyone have an opinion on Orvis's easy mend wonderline? Seems like a decent concept.

Re: 5wt sharkskin or wulff triangle taper

Let someone else try it before you spend. I used to be a sucker for every new improved line that came along. I have come t realize that most new improved things are just subtle changes at best and sometimes I even think the new feel is just because I have a new line. Fly rods can also trick you at shows, casting where there is no wind always makes a rod great. The only way to know for sure is to cast a rod or line side by side with what you already have and sometimes there is not much difference. Its like comparing colors with out the two side by side. What you may perceive and what it actually is may not be worth the price of making a change.

All valid points. Maybe I should clarify why I'm curious about it. Several times a year I float the WBD where constant mending is required. WF lines are what I use mostly but it seemed like this easy mend might be a tweak on a WF worth trying.

I pretty much fish the WBD and Mainstem exclusively. I use a Wulff TT line.

EDIT: What streams don't you mend on?
