All that pork that fattened Haliburton was voted on numerous times and passed by both democrats and republicans. Why dont you do yourself a favor and ask what company could move operations half way around the world and provide infrastructure services in a similar manner. There are but a handful wih the capability. Of course all roads lead back to Iraq...even climate change discussions.

Re: Global Warming a Hoax, don't worry you will still pay for it.
One of the many potential pitfalls from this bill should it one day become law is that it might actually lessen domestic oil/gas production due to higher taxes on fossil fuels which would drive the need for even more foreign consumption. Talk about the wrong direction towards domestic energy production and lessening our reliance on foreign oil.

My complaint: 300 pages added to the bill with insufficient time to read or let the voters read and understand. The same happened with the Stimulus Bill and with the Budget. We were promised by our current President that this would never occur.
We need rational debate on these issues but instead our politicians just ram a load of crap onto 1 bill under the guise of the environment. I am all for a clean environment and ridding ourselves of dependance on foreign oil from countries that want us to die. This bill in its entirety is a disaster. There are probably some aspects that most of us would agree with, but a lot of poorly thought out components. Our only hope is the Senate, so our hopes are dim....

This bill and the healthcare bill and the illegal immigration bill currently being written are basically done deals now that the Sen. Franken will be seated probably next week. So while the discussion on this board goes on its really a foregone conclusion that we will have some form of nationalized healthcare, a new energy bill, and immigration bill. The fall session will likely see a run at social security reform. So by the end of 2009 (in the span of one year) its a good bet that you will have a radically altered U.S. of A.

This thread has gotten off topic and covered many other political issues. Sticking with the thread title on global warming, how many of you also agreed with the last dumb-ass in office to not get our country involved in the Kyoto Protocol international environmental agreement? Here laid the oppurtunity to show we were a world leader in environmental protection and join the list of over 100 countries who ratified this and helped cut pollution. I wont list any websites with info on the Kyoto plan in fear I may be labeled as a dem or rep (im neither) but the info is there. Bush felt it wasnt in our best interest and Mcwheelchair was silent on the issue. Guess every country in the f-ing world is wrong on global warming!!!!!!!!!!!! And look at history.. its always cost money to fix problems. If it aint broken, dont fix it. Well we're broken people.

Well now you went brought in the good old United Nations. An organization so filled with inefficiency, corruption, and outright waste I have to wonder if you actually thought this would be a positive argument or an attempt at levity!!! You wont list any sites..C'mon now Bigbow let it rip. By the way not only did President Bush not agree to ratify so did President Clinton. But hey its a new day in D.C. Im sure President Obama will send that to the senate for ratification ASAP. By the way none of whats being proposed in the energy bill today comes close to the requirements for Kyoto. Fact is none of the scientists can agree on what levels of greenhouse gas reductions would be needed to ensure no adverse climate impacts. Reductions of up 60% are often thrown out there but no one can say if thats enough.

Lets not forget that little issue of are greenhouse gases even causing a rise in global temperatures? Uh, no proof presented yet. Reducing emissions and decreasing pollution is great, its something we can all agree on. But don't create mass hysteria by claiming thats its causing the world to heat up, just so you can get your self-serving legislation through.
