    Cummins,Cummings Bamboo Rod History?

I have a bamboo rod with the name Cummins, Cummings or Cummines?? Last part of the name is messed up so it's hard to read. It is a 2 piece rod with two tips, FL475, 4# 7.5'. I'd like to know some history about this rod. I found a guy up in Massachusetts who though it was built by a guy with a name like that who worked for Orvis back in the old days building their bamboo rods. Then he thought he branched off building his own but still using Orvis blanks. That's all he knew. Just wondering if anybody on this board recognizes this rod and knows some history about it? Thanks.

Please don't keep making the same post over and over. I've been trying to keep your most recent one, but approving the new one and deleting the old one is getting to be a pain.

I hate to say this, but our bamboo expert hasn't been spending much time here recently. He may see your inquiry sooner if you post at NJTrout.com • Index page

Post it in the "Fishing Bamboo" section (once).

Sent you a PM. I think you should look into Vince Cummings who passed on a decade ago. He lived in Rockland County and built graphite and bamboo rods out of a very small shop in Haverstraw. I don't think he planed his own bamboo but built off other's blanks like Leonard and maybe Orvis. He did nice work and was a nice gentle soul. Carmine Lisella, New City, New York should look at the rod and he could give you an appraisal and maybe who made it.

Cingras & Pete... thanks for the leads> That will be a good start. I tried to pm both of you but I don't have 10 posts yet.

Pete, I apologize for the multiple posts. I was getting error messages each time I tried and then when I looked in the thread nothing was there... so I'd try again. I can't imagine what I was doing to you. I owe you one.

For reasons that I don't understand, all those posts were being put in a "moderation queue". They wouldn't be displayed until an administrator or moderator approved them.

It's happened before, but usually the "victim" gives up after two or three tries and it's easier to sort out.

It's still acting strangely. Perhaps Dennis could look at the "permissions" for your account.

The problem may have been fixed (or fixed itself). Your last post wasn't in the moderation queue.

Could it be that the post title contains a letter sequence that could be seen as potentially pornographic to a filtering program? I know, I'm a big perv, but when I read the post's title that was the 2nd thing I thought of after Dodge's Diesel engines

I was wondering about the possibility of an automated anti-spam measure myself.

Since I don't know all the modifications that Dennis installed, it's just speculation.

I worked for Vince just before his death he had a stroke and I had to sign some of his last rods to sell them off so he could get paid on what was left in his shop before it closed
the bamboo he used was his own making he sold the planing blocks to Hoagy Carmichael years ago
