Sorry about your handicap, but the positive far outways the negative on the road being closed. In my past experiences with the gorge, the best spots arent inside the closed area anyway

    Re: Ken Lockwood Gorge

    Blue,
Road is open to the tressel if entering from the lower end of the gorge. The road above the tressel has been washed out pretty good in the lower lying areas and there are many large rocks that have surfaced making it impassable for now. I spoke to a local who lives in one of the houses at the lower entrance. He said that the town/county/state is arguing over who is responsible for road maintenance there hence the confusion and slow process. There is also some local buzz of turning the "road" into a no vehicle allowed walking path. The dozer in the lot is owned by NJ Fish and Game so I suppose they rose to the challenge for the time being to give us sportsman some renewed access and the parking along the way to the tressel is back to normal. By the way, the fishing is pretty good too. Spent Saturday through Monday on the water and caught my fair share. Mostly sub-surface, various emerger patterns and a few on dries. Tan caddis seemed to be the ticket when there was a rise. Good Luck and Good Fishing!
