    Ramapo River

Any one been to the Ramapo lately? Not only does the flooding concern me but there will be a cold front moving in. Just in time for Thurs. stocking. Maybe I won't call in sick Friday.

Fear not. The water will go down. Mid-50s for April is great fishing weather. Take advantage of it while you can...call in sick.

Based on the Mahwah guage, I'd say it's fishable today, but the water is still a bit high for comfort. Don't take any chances while wading.
    SEE:
USGS Real-Time Water Data for USGS 01387500 Ramapo River near Mahwah NJ

Unfortunately, I have a "family obligation" today.
Fortunately, I have next week off....

    Re: Ramapo River

Unfortunately, the Ramapo doesn't fish well in high water as opposed to say the Delaware. Once the river settles into it's banks, the fishing usually explodes. Good mayfly hatches should start soon and once they stop with the brookies and dump browns in instead, the surface action heats up. Be careful where you park, I hear they are going to start and issue tickets at the visitors lot at the Ramapo River Reserve. Too many fisherman have been using the lot and the residents are beginning to complain to the association and town. Can't say I blame them, Easter weekend and no available parking for guests because of 40 fisherman cars.
