    Fall-run Fish on the Esopus

I was up on the Esopus a few weeks ago and I kinda forgot how cool that river is.

Anybody ever target fall-run browns out of the Ashokan Res??

I was thinking that the slug of rain that's headed our way could pull some lake fish into the special regs section..

Re: Fall-run Fish on the Esopus

Its hit or miss, and I've heard that October is the better time. The biggest I've gotten out of there were a couple of fat 20"ers on streamers and dry-dropper fishing, but never one of the Ashoken monsters. I've also caught some big bows as well. There are giant sculpin (I've seen them 6" plus) in that river, so go big with the streamers.

There are a couple of other spots nearby where I've actually seen some huge lake run browns, but couldn't get them to eat at the time.

Roll up the windows Brian, you're letting the stank out.
