I just picked up a whole pheasant skin (wasn't looking for one, but saw this for next to nothing), but have never gotten a whole bird like this before. Any suggestions as to the right way for me to preserve/store it? It has come to me in a ziploc bag, salted. There are damp/juicy spots in several places. Should I let it breathe/air dry or is that just asking for bugs? Dry with mothballs? I'm not even sure of what to do w/ all the different feathers (although I've seen filoplumes mentioned in various recipies), so if anyone has any tips in that area as well, I'd appreciate it. There's a ton o' feathers there, so the next fly tying jamboree I'm at, ya'll can dig in. |
